It was Thunder for me. I first heard a demo version of it on YT and didn't think much of it until sometime later I played it again and fell in love.

Last year I stayed in a hotel in Dublin and this song came to me while I was thinking about all the times I gave a piece of myself away because I thought I had to. I grabbed my phone and recorded the hook as well as something that later became a verse. 7 months later I finished recording a demo version of this song. It's rough, it's raw and it's honest. If I were a known singer with a vast catalogue this song would be a start of something new, something completely different.

I wonder why it didn't make the album because it's one of her best

Not really a question but a suggestion - I think she should cover Whispering Grass by The Ink Spots. She would sound incredible on it.

I suppose their sounds aligned back then in a way that made sense for them to collab but they've been doing different things lately

I'd always had an on and off relationship with music. I used to listen to a lot of different artists mainly in the pop genre and as much as I enjoyed them I had never felt any sense of 'importance' of their music in my life. Oh, how everything changed when Born To Die dropped. She made me fall in love with music and there was no turning back from that moment on. Her voice, her lyrics, the production were unlike anything I had heard but it just clicked with me for some unknown reason. I don't think there will ever be a 'pop' album as important and influential that it would shape the music landscape for the many years to come. Cheers to BTD, happy 10th anniversary!
