  1. I just slept four hours when I got home and will be heading straight to uni. When I come back in the evening, I'll be posting pictures of the tourbook.
  2. Aww, this is so sweet. I actually don't know what to say, so I better don't say anything really.
  3. How come I didn't see this wonderful thread yet? I guess everyone felt attracted to the exquisite quality of her music, which isn't essentially new but yet uncommon these days. I like that she has an eye for the aesthetic of her entire body of work. I like the way she deals with words. I like many things about her, in fact, many aspects remind me of myself. But the reason why I love her? That's a tricky question. I suppose the true reasons why we feel drawn to something or someone are so subconscious that an accurate answer can never be given. And maybe that's where Lana's charm lies: in the subconscious. She stimulates a very certain nerve in me, and I'm sure that's the same for everybody else. It is my interpretation of her work, or misinterpretation if you will, that makes me feel very close to her. Or less alone.
  4. Why does every thread have to turn into a debate on everybody's favorite song and its brilliance? Just an observation I've made.
  5. I'm dying to know this, too.

    Show Duration

Doors open exactly two hours before the support act begins their set. That means, if there is a delay due to technical issues or something, admission will be delayed by that time, too. Kassidy's set is about 30 minutes, and Lana's on stage for a good 90 minutes, too. As for meeting her: look around the venue a day before if you can, or the day of the show. Make yourself familiar with the venue and especially its backstage area. She usually doesn't leave very quickly, so wait long enough. If you have letters or gifts that you want to give to her, you can hand them to one of Kassidy's members who usually sneak around the venue in the afternoon or linger around after the show. Check this thread for merchandise, or go directly to the online store. Prices should roughly be the same at the shows. Good luck!
  7. This isn't even about the artists themselves getting not enough money, but all other people involved. Yes, bootlegging in pre-web 2.0 time might have positively contributed to an artist's recognition, but since the 2000s that effect can no longer be seen. First of all, the internet had already been invented when Mylène Farmer began her career. But let's talk about her for a second. She is certainly one of the best examples in Europe for brilliant marketing. Thierry Suc knew exactly what he was doing when he began to manage her in 1985 (was it?). The reason why all this collector edition stuff works is because she is intentionally marketed as this "untouchable, mysterious and secretive" figure. To a certain degree she is all of that, but it delivers the perfect product packaging in itself. Of course people want to get a piece from that, and the massive fan cult that has emerged around her pretty much derives from her highly mythical appearance. She has become a household name. Let's be honest, her latest musical achievements are nowhere quality-wise where her old material is. Yet she is breaking her own records again and again, because 'Mylène Farmer' is written on the record sleeve. However, I really have to disagree with your point of merch being sold to get money besides the music. Compare the prices of merch throughout the years, the price has doubled ever since. The prices demanded alone for a cheap t-shirt are insane, and it is used to get the money back in that got lost through piracy. This is no longer about concert bootlegs being passed around, this is about millions of people in Germany alone refusing to pay for intellectual property although it is easily available to them, even online. You can download music, but you cannot download merch or a concert experience. And that is why the market is more and more focussed on that. The music industry associates are still working on new models as to how to get people back to pay in times of web 2.0.
  8. Well, it would give quite some insight into the way she is being promoted, and who is earning what with her. I am pretty sure they did offer a 360° contract, as it is very common with young and upcoming artists, but it's much more of curse than it is a blessing after a while. It would be interesting to see what Ben advised to her in this case.
  9. Thanks! But we have no information whatsoever about what kind of contract she was offered, and which she took?
  10. I was just wondering exactly when Lana signed with Universal Music and if she has a 360° contract. Thanks in advance!
  11. Technically speaking, merch is so expensive because it is meant to bring the money back in that got lost through piracy of the music. At the same time ticket prices and prices of the music increase, as well. We must not forget that the internet has brought many innovations with it the music industry is taking advantage of, but just like that it has pretty caused a few harms also.

  13. Just chronologically organized unreleased tracks, no demos and live versions.
  14. If you have standing tickets, I'd go after the show. They have enough of it, trust me. If you'll be seated, go before the show to escape the craziness afterwards.
  15. http://kassidy.mamstore.co.uk I'll be taking a couple of photos of the merch stand at my upcoming show in case there nobody else posted one already.
  16. Oh great! I'm happy to hear that. If there's anything I can contribute, or something I could do, just let me know.
  17. Oh shut up, you... What a wonderful story! :sluttybunny:Us Lana Boards member are really getting a reputation with Kassidy, don't we? What a wonderful read! By the way, she looks great with heels.
  18. I just had an idea for a collective forum project, and if something like this it is already in the works, I apologize for bringing it up once more. We have a variety of awesome over-information threads, but I felt like something's been missing for a long time already: an interview archive. Be it print interviews from newspapers and magazines, or interviews published online through blogs or on the associated websites of various publications. Even radio interviews and TV interviews, basically anything where we hear or see Lana talk about her and her work. What do you think, is it worth giving it a try?

    Lana's Tattoos.

Even though this thread is about... Lana's tattoos, I have something slightly off-topic, but yet topic-related. I will get 'art' from the autograph she gave me tattooed on my left arm. It's going to be small and pretty, and I can't wait to finally have a needle mark what's always been there. That sounded ~poetic and ~nebulous, right?
  20. Not a funny show story, but the presale for the German dates was probably the most relaxed presale I ever experienced. I got up early and was twiddling my thumbs, waiting for it to be 9am. The link opened and I bought two standing tickets for the Hamburg show. I paid one minute later was like... OH AND OH MY GOD I TOTALLY FORGOT TO ADD THIS TO MY THREAD There were two tour busses and the first one is used by Kassidy. When everybody was waiting behind the arena, we observed a subtle striptease by two band members. They didn't know 70 people were watching. They were putting on pajamas, but still wore their underpants. Just for your information.
  21. I don't hate you :airplease:
