Personally, I don’t think they’re cringe, it’s just the most pop-ish escape, ig.
But yeah, she has been doing that since the start, and it’s okay when it’s her not taking herself too seriously.

Can’t actually agree the lyrics are cringe, tbh this type of lyrics remind me of her old style quite a lot. When she didn’t take herself too seriously, if you compare these lyrics with some from TFJ, EH and FROOT they fit quite right tbh

I feel like these lyrics have the same silly vibes as some of past unserious songs (E.V.O.L, BB, Homewrecker). I guess that's why many people think this is her most Electra Heart-esque song released so far. Even the way she sings in some parts sound a bit tender and unserious like she did on EH.

Are you comparing a metatextual reflection on Lana’s own career where she responds and expands upon her own narrative (it’s not about having someone to love me anymore this is the experience of being an American whore) to anything Marina has done in the last 8 years? I do agree w some of what you said, but it certainly doesn’t help her when she releases tracks with basic lyrics. This is coming from someone who is a stan since late 2012/early 2013 (and still am), but it’s a fact that her pen has been running low on ink for quite some time. Also, she doesn’t get that much hate tbh, and Twitter hate train is just that – you log off, and it doesn’t exist outside of it.
However, it’s valid to criticize lyrics that you think are not as good as before. Personally, I don’t dislike the song, it’s a silly bop, like you said, but some of the lyrics are too basic, some of the melodies are recycled from previous eras and I still don’t connect to the chorus. It’s okay to not love something others do, and vice versa
