Really a LGBTIQ+ anthem

I wasn’t so sure about the male choir at first (though I was getting the reason behind it; I guess I had wrongfully associated choir to what we got on Summertime), but I listened to it again and it really works!  Plus there’s a weirdly « working » element to an all-male choir singing to her You’ll Never Walk Alone haha 

Exactly!! But i can also see why it wasn’t ever released, the lyrical content maybe super personal to her or just a little too far when it comes to releases

I listened to Backfire again today with having in mind it being about Heroin. Now I finally understand that backfire means she or he gets the undesired effect when the drug works out. They/she know(s) it will bring them/her what they/she looked for, but it won’t last.

Yes! I get what you mean. Also “keep hustlin’ every night and day.” She/they are always trying to make money to get the desire 

And actually, the lyric “tapping on our windows” being about shooting up and flicking/tapping veins kind of makes sense. Think about it, windows are on the outside of a house, our skin is the boarder from the outside of us to the inside, physically. I know that sounds stupid and I can’t find a better way to put it, but it makes sense to me omg.

Can we talk about the bridge to this song real quick? Is it a complete drug reference? I was listening to this and realized maybe it’s more than whats on the surface? It could also be an absolute reach, but now that we’ve had Greenwich for a while, “are you still in Greenwich dropping acid?” I have to know if anyone else has thought this or not, am I just thinking too hard about it? I could be, but still, it’s an interesting perspective considering this guy is losing his mind and suicidal

Its defo a grower, i quite like the moody feel the songs have, whereas thank u next was much more pop, this feels a little more relaxed. a lot of the songs make me think of a rainy sensual night walking through a city, even though its very basic production i think its quite a catchy and enjoyable record in its own way, just takes some getting used to, its nothing groundbreaking though and wont age well in my opinion, but most of ariana's music ages badly so nothing new there, i'd give this a 6/10 right now, 7/10 in time - it's short and cute enough for me to replay more than once, i also think the songs have a kind of classic instrumentation to them in some parts
 
my top 5 fav tracks are
1. just like magic (i loved this one, so sexy and mysterious)
2. positions (this song is good, i dont get the hate)
3. pov
4. safety net (i'd prefer it without the rapper, but this song is also quite sexy and dark sounding)
5. motive (this track is one of the few experimental sounding songs on the album, maybe its just me but its quite different for ari)

Every song has such a strong message in my opinion, with TUN songs like NASA didn’t do it for me.
