Hey All,
Thank you very much for this response! It is not a joke it is a serious question that has bugged me. My name is actually my username as I have literally nothing to hide from any of you. I really like LDR and just want to participate in good discussion about one of my favorite singers and as a slightly older fan (26 is young) I was unsure what these terms meant.
Best,
Carl

Lana Rey Del Mar liked a post in a topic by CarlPFisher in James Franco to Release "Flip-Side: Real and Imaginary Conversations with Lana Del Rey"
Somebody has a huge crush on her! Oh my God this man should just put a ring on it already. Seriously though, I have seen his movies and he as an artist cannot hold a candle to her but I suppose I will read this because I am always curious about the mind of a creative genius like Lana. He does seem to get it but cannot even copy it so I do not know. She took 6 chords on a guitar and created a raw and brilliant career...a genius and the more you know the better.

Hey All!
So I get asked this question a lot since I am an analytical straight guy in his twenties who for the most part is very much not a metrosexual yet I absolutely adore/obsess/love Lana's music, looks, and personality. For starters, I relate to her music because like her I am very much a romantic and believe that true love is a wonderful end that I have yet to achieve and those issues that arise along the way resonate with me (aside from the fact that the roles are reversed). I also am deeply philosophical/poetic and her music is much deeper than the vast majority of modern musicians would hope to be. Additionally, practically every single song that she sings creates a mindset or recreates a positive or negative memory that helps me reflect on myself. If I become friends with any of you I can elaborate on this stuff but suffice to say her music does something to me that other music does not. I cannot relate to her looks other than she is very attractive but as far as her personality is concerned she seems to have many similarities with me that are too many to mention. When I first heard her sing 'Heart Shaped Box' I kind of fell in love with her as an artist. I hope that was not too much but I thought it reasonably answered the prompt.

I have no idea. Probably tired from to much singing?
And she did hit the note in the European tour. Watch this, she hits the note like a Boss.

I do not feel as though most of her songs are simplistic. At the same time that she focuses on love and lost she has a way of invoking Nabakov, Hemingway (the sun also rises in Money Power Glory), and other literary allusions which lead to a much more complex theme than just the surface concept of a damsel in distress. One of my personal favorites 'Body Electric' is clearly a reference to an insecure woman who has an internal struggle between an extroverted vs introverted lifestyle. For instance, she discusses partying and dancing while invoking the rosary prayer with a subtle reply in which her party lifestyle is validated with the line 'She Said Don't Worry About It." This is a great example of a poem about a life in conflict between ones religious teachings and desire to be with oneself (all I need are my heros) and the desire to be with the crowd. This is just one example of Lana's more philosophical and deep songs that can go way above most people's heads including the hipsters on Youtube who claim to know things when they don't.

I think these two articles may bring to light some of the issues with her.
Age:

Authenticity:
http://www.spin.com/2012/01/deconstructing-lana-del-rey/2/
Alcoholism:
I for one think that the attacks that she received was uncalled for! You would think that if she was not an alcoholic then someone somewhere would have pointed out by now that she was seen drinking somewhere. Those photos could easily of been of water and soda. I know I have drank water out of wine glasses and drank cocca cola out of scotch glasses when out with my family. Additionally, there has never been a single person from her past to contradict this fact.
I can post more if you like.

As an addendum to what I said earlier I was not so aware of the issues between the two as I am not a gossip kind of guy but it was based on their duet in "Summer Wine" and given the information that others posted afterward I retract the Barrie comment above. I just want her and everyone to be happy because life is so short and should be spent in happiness. I do not retract that whole dating me thing because a guy can dream right? lol. I wish her nothing the best and hope she finds a great equal as she mentioned in a few interviews. Funny, that is what I look for in a women when I date so good luck to her.
