Hit & Run

Recommended Posts

Yeahh, it's "hit and run the world". I knew it was that before I even checked this thread, because I have a basic sense of hearing. After listening to the song more times it obviously becomes clear taking into account the theme of the song, "on a spree taking over," "wanna be a soldier".

I just don't even understand reasoning for anything but.

:mmm:

Are you annoyed about this because you had it originally and you no longer feel like you have anything "exclusive"?

:thankyou: you're all welcome on the DL

I still hear "Hit it and run". And do I hear a male voice harmonizing with her on the chorus?

But ev, everybloody nose it..

No srsly. I really am slacking on the whole thing, am I? I wasn't aware that there could be any discussion on the existence of both 'it' and male backing vocal. My brain is too arrogant and accept them as blind facts since day 1. *pushing shrink's speed dial*

The "synth choir" keyboard setting? There's no one else singing lyrics anywhere on the song.

Oh wait, never mind, i see what you're talking about now. Yeah, there is a boi singin' along with Lizzi.

Eerie. It's as if you somehow knew I have a couple nosebleeds a day this time of the year. It's impossible to clean the buildup in my right nostril without aggravating a scab there. I should probably get that shit cauterized, but I have this (probably irrational) fear that it will affect my sense of smell. #OffTopicPost

I hadn't noticed it until I listened to the "acapella". I was beginning to think the nosebleeds were a sign I was having an aneurysm until you amended your post. I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy.

Exactly what I think almost every single time I talk to European. Every. Single. Time.

Strange, random coincidences or epiphanies would surface. Maybe I should start calling him Eerieopean.

Sorry to hear. Guess we all have our tiny little ailments. What induces your nosebleed? #OffOfTheRacesTopic #LetsListen2Hoppipolla

Come and take a walk on the wild side..

ETA:

Just finished reading (well skimming, sorta) the 'hit & run' discussion.

And all the while, my brain always registers it as:

Hit and run, let’s hit it and run

Hit and run the
world

Hit and run, baby hit and run

Hit and run the
world

But then with DP's accapella, it has shifted into:

Hit and run, let’s hit it and run

Hit
it
and run the
Wall (Street)

Hit it and run, baby hit it and run

Hit
it
and run the
Wall (Street)

To me, the vowel sound I heard is more like the /wɔl/ of wall instead of what I usually thought as /wɝld/ of world. Thank you Lana, for lighting up the spark of phonetic curiosity among us, that's so dope of you. (What? Lana is reading this, right?) But ofc, it could just be Lana messing with our ears and mind again.

And now, which of you Lana-sleuthers wants to google:

white Lamborghini owners,

Wall Street technology stocks,

technology investors,

major record label owners,

Hm?

:brows:

:hehe:

ps: The accapella made me able to hear the 2nd male voice. The low, menacing almost computer-generated-like, almost croaking-toad-like voice, right in the middle of the chorus.

ps2: What sort of mutant-technologically-adaptive-virus have you infected me with, ev?

So there's no topic here for this criminally :oopna: underrated song. Here I undergo the Herculean task of transcribing this incredibly difficult and complex song. Think of me always.

V1 only: La la la la la ah ah ah

La ah ah, ah la ah ah ah

Hollywood and New York, Mr. Major
Then there's me, little queen of the stage, yeah

He's a god, one the stars call creator

Hail the king of the industry players...

Take off your business suit

Sittin' in your lap for my interview

Hit it and run,

Let's hit it and run

Hit and run the world

Hit it and run, baby

Hit it and run

Hit and run the world

V2 only: Hit and Run

Pick me up in your white Lamborghini

London town, you'll watch out while I'm singing

Glamorous on the stage, boy believe me

Keep your girl back, no competing

Eyeing you from across the room

Watching me wa-watching you

Hit it and run,

Let's hit it and run,

Hit and run the world

Hit it and run, baby,

Hit it and run

Hit and run the world

You and me on a spree, taking over

L. del Rey, yay! Wanna be your soldier

Hit it and run, baby

Hit it and run (hey!)

Hit and run the world

Oh, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh oh

You know this world is mean, nothing's for free

it's money and technology

Together we'd be dead-a-ly

You know this world is mean, nothing's for free

It's money and technology

Together we'd be dead-a-ly

Deadly, deadly...

Hit it and run

Let's hit it and run

Hit and run the world

You and me on a spree, taking over

L. Del Rey, yay! Wanna be your soldier

Hit it and run, baby

Hit it and run (hey!)

Hit and run the world

---

Notes:

The one line I'm unsure about is "London town, you'll watch out while I'm singing." It could be 'yo,' 'you,' 'you'll', or something else.

V1 has the "Hey" in parenthesis. V2 just has a hey! background vocal on every chorus, like hit it (hey) and run.

I know dead-a-ly is deadly, but I felt her unique pronunciation had to be preserved for posterity.

1 minute Lanalysis, I'd say this song is a fantasy and has no basis in reality, a glorification of Arthur with his diet MTN dew "label", or related to the 7 year relationship she mentioned that may have had something to do with a record executive? "Sitting in your lap for my interview" reminds me of this interview where she mentioned making out with a handsome record executive.
