I generally don’t like Pitchfork either but they rated it highly for her political outspokenness, turning her lens outward, to be more worldly as opposed to her microcosm, and talking about the young girls with flowers in their hair at Coachella—wishing to protect them and ask God a question, pondering joy during wartime—that’s why I like it so much too  it felt like character development, a step forward

I will be truly confused if outlets give critical acclaim to NFR but not Chem. As much as I love NFR, Chem is so much more experimental and unique. I feel like it will be a UV situation, where the reviews are good but mixed, then years later Chem is heralded as an iconic, hallmark album ahead of its time
