2024 US Presidential Election - Kamala Harris/Tim Walz vs. Donald Trump/JD Vance

Recommended Posts

People just want an excuse to not vote or to not be happy tbh. Biden has been one of the best Presidents, domestically, in a while (even Bernie Sanders admitted that much). A lot of what I see about Kamala and Palestine is performative, nonsensical, and belabored (again not trying to downplay what’s going on there, but I agree that single issue Israel-Palestine voting is dangerous).

My final, very very skeptical, prediction:

IMG-0919.jpg
I think Texas will vote to the left of Florida, but the sun belt as a whole will vote to the right of the the rust belt.

I also think Mark Robinson will weigh Trump down in NC, leading to a Harris win that falls within the “recount” margin (thankfully she’d have 276 votes without NC, anyways).

Finally, even though Kari Lake is deeply unpopular, I think we’ll see surprising split ticket voting in AZ which results in a Lake loss and a Trump win.

This entire election will be decided by less than 40,000 votes in NC and PA—but I think popular vote wise, Harris will outperform her polling.

I’ve kept out of this thread today until I listened to the Rogan podcast. I’m about 30 minutes in and Trump is just low energy rambling. I can see why some people find him charming or whatever because he doesn’t talk like a typical politician. However, if you listen more deeply and analyze it, he just spews off a lot of made up stats and “facts” and Rogan isn’t pushing back.

I started listening to Rogan a few years back, but he lost me around the Covid years. Listening to this interview, he’s wise to butter up Trump if he wants the interview to go long. Trump bails on interviews if he gets challenged or fact checked. So far, Joe isn’t pushing back. He keeps agreeing with Trump and buttering him up. It’s a conversation, not a real interview, let’s be honest.

Anyway, the single issue voting can be dangerous. I understand that. For example, as a meteorologist who has studied climatology, climate change is a very serious issue for me. Should I refuse to vote for Kamala because she (lukewarm) supports fracking now? Hell no. Trump is a climate change denier. He’s said some insanely stupid and false things about wind power, for example.

Back to Rogan, they’re talking about sex change stuff now. It’s pretty ridiculous how the right is using the trans topic against democrats. If you support LGBTQI+ and trans rights, a vote for Trump or a defacto Trump vote (no vote or 3rd party vote) is contrary to the whole movement. Trump/the right want to go backwards and will try to erase decades of progress. It’s disgusting.

I think you're right mostly and if I made a map, mine would look similar if not identical. I think it's going to be tight in MI, PA, and WI, however, it'll stay blue (a lot of red voters moved to Florida after the 2020 election, also went to Texas, and some to GA.) After they started redlining voting areas in GA, I can't tell exactly what happened with that in 2021/2022 and if it was stopped because they had a lot of pushback for their efforts, but it wouldn't be surprising to see it flip red again. I've seen some stuff online about NC flipping because they have some really bad, Nazi/Nazi-adjacent guy running there so seeing it turn blue would make a lot of sense, if people have a conscious. If the third parties and a small handful of republicans can be flipped, we'll see NC go blue and that'll push it over.

It'd be nice to see a full blue map. Either way, I'm afraid of what's to come once the election's over, it could push society over a precipice towards a... bad situation. Idk. I'm just afraid we'll see January 6 again x2 or x10 or something crazy. We know republicans aren't capable of accepting loss and if Trump wins, that means fascism... fuck.

User was warned for this comment.

Coming into a political thread and posting a meme does nothing, and is very inflammatory  If you have a different opinion, engage in conversation.

this warning is actually nuts it's giving mod on a power trip - did you see what the meme was responding to?? outrageous lmfao

you could have just explained your opinion on the comment and why you believe that instead of suggesting they need meds

joins thread telling people they have dents in their heads and then continues to post an off-topic, rude meme for clicks and contributes nothing to the convo >>>>

Its so easy to not be disrespectful and have normal conversations with people.

So Ivanka Trump has all but abandoned her dad’s campaign and is at a Taylor Swift concert lol. She was such an important part of his 2016 and 2020 campaigns, it’s weird she’s disappeared…

As someone who lives in Germany, I am glad that there are some options to vote left. We have "Social" Democrats, Greens, Left and a whole new party that can be described as left-wing populist.  The Social Democrats and Greens have so far shown themselves to be (neo)liberal, warmongers and supporters of Israel and are almost unelectable for me, especially as they keep entering into coalitions with the conservative Christian Democrats, although sometimes they would have had the choice of forming a coalition with the Left. So I can kind of understand if some Americans have reservations about voting for the Democrats.  It's like having the choice between plague and cholera.

Update based on what I’m seeing from return rates of early voting. If Trump wins, the strong R returns in states like Nevada are going to be our first sign. I don’t see Harris being able to close the gap in NV rn, unless those Republicans are breaking for her in double digits (which is unlikely):

this no voting movement is so crazy, it’s making me so mad at the internet, so they don’t wanna vote for Kamala bc she supports Israel or something but do they not fucking realize trump is Israel’s number one fan and bff???!!!!?!

a trump win literally harms so many people in so many ways, I think it really is important for even the farthest left leaning to pick the lesser of 2 evils when one is a sexual assaulting criminal etc etc. you have to vote for Kamala if you care at all even a little bit about women, queer people, minorities, the list could go on and on.
keep in mind trump encouraged the genocide he stated “just flatten them” iirc

I agree. Obviously don’t love Kamala’s stance and I understand people’s frustration with it, but there’s a reason Israel wants Trump to win. It won’t be any better than Kamala and will make things infinitely worse. There are many other things at stake people need to think about like women’s rights to healthcare for example. I don’t think it’s fair to our country and not vote just because of one issue

The election reminds me of the trolley moral dilemma. Would you rather save one person or 5 people from getting run over by a train. Either option you pick someone isn’t going to make it, but saving 5 is better than one. Just something to think about

I submitted by absentee ballot today. In person, because I’m paranoid. There were a lot of people voting early. I hope turnout is big! We need more people involved in the political system, even though it’s easy to be apathetic about it all.
