true, I shouldn't put words in your mouth. but that's what his people want, which is...baffling and distressing, since I know many who, oddly, rely on those programs but support "smaller government".

To me, it’s simply a sign of desperation. People who are struggling so badly, they would rather swallow a Trump shaped pill than vote for another 4 years of the same. That’s a terrifying sign of how our country is treating its citizens.

I’m privileged in that I don’t necessarily understand where they’re coming from firsthand, but I don’t want to judge them for it, or write them off as stupid.

True. While I do understand firsthand where they're coming from, since my family is all poor, I am also disabled in such a way that I can never be un-disabled so if I lost my programs... I'd be even more fucked.

I feel like Democrats completely shit the bed. They were right in that the economy is doing good statistically but they were absolutely not understanding that those numbers and statistics were NOT translating to an improvement in the situations of everyday Americans.

The Democrats (the establishment ones--not Bernie and AOC's flank) need to realize that they do not have a winning coalition without white, middle class workers

Teamsters withholding their endorsement for the first time in decades should have been a HUGE wakeup call for dems.

Dems squandered their union/labor support and Republicans swooped in to add them to their base. The democratic coalition needs to be rebuilt from the ground up now cuz all that's left is college educated coastal elites and even their support feels lukewarm at best

The problem is, republicans don’t want more regulation and control over stuff, especially food. You’d probably see fast food prices, for example, go UP if the additives and preservatives were banned.

There's a ton of shit in our food that’s very unhealthy for us, but I don’t see that changing. Do you really see republican officials voting to approve such measures?

While RFK Jr. has a few good ideas, about every good one is counteracted by 5 or 10 horrible conspiracies.

Also, big food companies, including factory farmers, are going to lobby hard against more regulation.

Even in theory, if a few bad ingredients get banned, it will be more than offset by vaccine requirements getting eliminated and implementation of his other kooky ideas, that will make us even more unhealthy.

…..as opposed to keeping poison in our foods? If the companies can already make the food for other countries (ex Kelloggs) without chemicals they can make it for the US without poison. We have an issue with chemicals in food, hair care, skin care ETC that cause health issues that feed big pharma’s pockets. We just let it keep going? people are tired of it.

idk why it’s not letting me post under your post, but I think Trumpers want smaller government and to be left alone, they’re just loud.

So is it really true that a lot of Trump voters are regretting their deision, because of NOW researching his policies, what tariffs are, chance of being deported, family members disowning them and friends leaving them, etc?

Unsure if im just in a media bubble with the Meidas Touch youtube channel or if this is truly very widespread. (Btw i don't live in America so i got no experience of this in my personal life- asking as an outside). Are any Americans here seeing this in your life right now, off social media?

Dr. Oz ran in the Pennsylvania senate race two years ago and was a popular candidate. This is not that crazy in my opinion.

I live in PA (the not-as-assbackward parts) and he was not popular politically, most people thought he was a joke but wanted to vote him bc he was on TV. It was ridiculous.

I live in PA too. His race with Fetterman was not uncontested. Maybe he didn’t seem popular to you, but he did appeal to lots of people.

Also, I’d just like to point out that Fetterman is a walking joke 🤣 As a Pennsylvanian, I feel very strongly about that.

Going off this with a little background about Dr. Oz for anyone curious about his history (and I’m sure there’s more) -

https://youtu.be/Q0zb-NoiuHc?si=9GLSopv0oKwwlJt4

RFK jr. was on The Dr. Oz show a few months ago. They believe thimerosal used in some flu shots (Adult tetanus boosters and one type of meningococcal vaccine for adolescents are the only others that contain thimerosal) is linked to autism. Thimerosal has a type of mercury with a harmless amount. Mostly used as a preservative and prevents microbial growth

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccine-safety/about/thimerosal.html#:~:text=Research does not show any link between thimerosal and autism.

It’s been slowly removed from vaccines as a precaution as medicine advances. The CDC has stated there is no evidence linked to autism. Dr. Oz even says in this video it was “implicated” and “possible” as a link, but ultimately “discredited” yet still goes around saying it’s harmful.

Dr. Oz has been criticized for years sharing recommendations that are unsubstantiated. He’s famously suggested weight loss supplements that have no evidence and even tweeted astrology is a “valuable tool” for medical information. I personally find astrology interesting, but using it as legitimate tool for medical information advice especially coming from a doctor is extremely concerning

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4269523/

there was a study done examining these health recommendations on medical talk shows which includes Dr. Oz.

Quote

recommendations in The Dr Oz Show, evidence supported 46%, contradicted 15%, and was not found for 39%.

Quote

Conclusions Recommendations made on medical talk shows often lack adequate information on specific benefits or the magnitude of the effects of these benefits. Approximately half of the recommendations have either no evidence or are contradicted by the best available evidence. Potential conflicts of interest are rarely addressed. The public should be skeptical about recommendations made on medical talk shows.

TLDR: anyways - mr. brain worm with no medical background as secretary of health and human services working with pseudoscientific TV show host dr. in charge of Medicare + Medicaid both known to spread misinformation is comical but extremely concerning.

tbh I think he's a damn grifter but that's just my opinion.

It’s the media bubble. While a small percentage of voters might be shocked, I think most don’t care. The average Trump voting American doesn’t follow politics that closely. If anything, they want Trump to shake things up and tear down the establishment, so they are probably neutral on or even like his policy proposals and nominees :toofunny:

It’s like the media making a huge deal about the “large number” of republicans supporting Harris in the election. In the end, it was a really small number. Probably smaller than the amount of republicans who voted for Clinton in 2016. Minority, but vocal.
