Like the Republicans are any better…

Not this. Please not this.

That goes without being said. Let’s not defend the Democratic Party for being horrible, shitty just because the other party is horrible and shitty x2.

i dont think that "manifesto" is real. The youtube account was fake, and it's very plausible people have been spreading fake "manifestos" as well.

The quotes all of the media has been using aren't even in the one linked above lol

Yeah I wasnt sure either, after I read it I was questioning it, but it does seem fake

Apparently, he's a Lana fan, according to his Spotify. So, he deserves to be pardoned and sent back home in a luxury limo with apologies. Joking

But yeah, what to say... As someone who is super anti-capitalist and kinda shocked by the American healthcare system, I'm not surprised. But then, you do need to have a few screws loose in your head to go and outright shoot someone.

On a real note, as someone who literally had to change my health insurance because my old one was so bad they almost killed me, I just don’t feel that bad in this situation. I’m not saying people deserve to be killed because they’re doing something unfair and unjust, but it’s really hard to feel much empathy. I’ve also been denied access to see specialists that could have helped me over a decade ago, but because of insurance, wouldn’t let me. There’s so many people in different situations suffering from this, people with life threatening conditions but also people with chronic illnesses who may suffer. Every. Single. Day. For the rest of their lives. Hospitals are restricted on what they can do because of insurance all the time. Seen so many people suffer because of INSURANCE. that’s insane. I get how hard it is to find the right solution because everyone is in a different situation, but CEOs denying people of life saving treatments is absurd and evil.

It's just insane.

In my native country, healthcare is not great, but it's either free or dirt cheap (it's subsidized by the government). Where I live as an expat, everyone has medical insurance as long as they're employed, or a national.

I've never had to worry about healthcare in my life, thank God. Also, one time I had insurance so good that I bought a pair of really expensive designer prescription glasses, (Oliver Peoples) and they refunded me in full. Didn't stay long at the job, but that experience was something else. Their policy allowed a frame per year, which means folks who have it can get new pair of designer glasses every year.

Americans think they're the shit, and "the greatest country in the world." Yet they don't take care of their own people, and allow the sale of guns in supermarkets. If I didn't know better, I would think your government doesn't care about you at all.

I do think the cops found him using some surveillance tech that the public doesn't know about and the McDonald's tip off is somewhat of a coverup story.

Eh they claimed for days they had a name and were actively searching for someone, but when they captured him they said it was a complete surprise and he wasn’t on any radar. They interviewed the old man who tipped off the police/McDonald’s and there’s even been an article about how the McDonald’s manager probably won’t see any of the reward money.

The incompetent NYPD (more military spending than most other countries on the planet) took 2 days to find the backpack full of Monopoly money that he INTENDED them to find.

He definitely expected to be caught since he had his manifesto and fake ids and gun on him or whatever. Regardless, the cops are lucky that bored old fart went to McDonald’s that day. And in any case I’m going to bet on the police’s general incompetence over some top secret surveillance we don’t know about

i speak from the perspective of having the fortune of living in a country where i do not pay for my healthcare, and if i do, it is heavily subsidised by the government, but i have always seen the american health care system as the most predatory and incomprehensible monster and it does fill me with some sort of resentment toward the CEO's and shareholders of these mega-rich insurance companies.

seeing mothers struggle to pay for their childrens medications, and people unable to pay for life saving surgeries is the most gut wrenching thing and i can see how something like this was going to happen at some point if i’m honest. also everytime i visit the US i am SHOCKED at how you can buy packs of 500 paracetamol (acetaminophen) and ibruprofen when over here you cannot legally buy more than 2 packs at once (at a maximum of 16 pills per pack IN blister packaging)... but no wonder if you have to rely on pills to keep pain at bay

I'm just saying.

My dad, my favorite person, has to receive a double lung transplant within the next 6 months or he will most likely die.

If he got denied, I would want to k some people, too.

Oh my god, that's terrible. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed he gets it.

What happened with his lungs, if you don't mind me asking?

He has interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis. Incurable scarring of the lungs, progressive disease.

So sorry to hear that. :hoe: Fyi, my father had serious lung issues too, so I know exactly what you're going through.

Was/is he a smoker? I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions?
