he looked like just ate a gummy during that and honestly idk he seems like a much more normal person after having (now) 2 tramp presidencies. i know he wasn't perfect and had a lot of warcrimes and issues, but man... i'd rather just have him back if this is the shitshow we're gonna have. and he was awful economically too! he handed Obama a failed economy which Obama brought back to normal.

i miss Obama most of all though (although his healthcare tax situation was shitty, don't tax me for something i can't afford, even when its government subsidized......)

Bush was objectively worse than Trump in every measure, except for rhetoric. 
 

He lied and started a NEEDLESS war that sacrificed countless American lives, he tanked the economy to a near Great Depression style recession, he was even more lenient on fracking and drilling than Trump, he was worse for gay rights than Trump, he was even more anti-abortion than Trump (although it’s hard to actually know where Trump stands on abortion since he’s dodged the question recently). 
 

Trump is far dumber, and says dumber, stupid shit—but there is no version reality I would take 2000s Bush over Trump.

Ew please don't make me defend a republican, but.... Trump tanked the economy as well. Trump has stated he wants to go as far as to criminalize abortion. The main difference is ego and intention and I think Bush with all of his faults, intended and thought he was doing what was best when it wasn't. There's a lot of Bush's administration that I've forgotten because I was a kid for all of it and didn't pay much attention other than his war on the Middle East and the housing market crash (because I worked in mortgage for a while in the late 2010s/early 2020s). Trump is threatening our allies, pulled us out of the Paris climate agreement (twice now), pulled us out of the WHO, not to mention the Nazi rhetoric his besties are running around spewing. at least under bush, we didn't have open nazi-ism.

Believe me, I don't want a republican anywhere near the white house but if I had to choose between Bush or Trump, at least Bush isn't a rapist (AFAIK) or committing tax fraud / evasion or giving high tax cuts to the ultra wealthy.

Trump mishandled the COVID economy, but he didn't singlehandedly tank it due to dumb deregulations like Bush did.

I can, perhaps, agree that Bush had better intentions than Trump, but Bush would have laughed in the Paris Accord's face as well, he also nominated judges who overturned abortion (AFAIK Trump has never stated he wants to criminalize abortion? IDK where that is from, he most recently said he would not sign a federal abortion ban, if you believe him), defunded public health just as much as Trump (and even more so in public mental health funding), and also gave one of the largest tax breaks to the rich.

I don't think Trump deserves to be within 600 yards of the White House, or even hold a managerial position at Wal-Mart, but I have the strongest of feelings about Bush, and genuinely believe he/his administration set humanity back by at least 3 decades.

He is not, and never will seem to be, a "normal person" and I would never want him back. Not even for a second.

I think most of it just makes me scared that in 15 years (if we make there as a nation, and if Trump is still alive) people are going to do the same humanization and memeing that’s happening to Bush. It’s already happening to an extent but it seems like people from every side of the political spectrum thought Bush was “adorable” or “funny” at the inauguration.

as far as Trump becoming a dictator, I don’t believe that will happen. I do think he values his ego more than anything else but I also believe there is ALOT of fear mongering surrounding him. The criminalization of abortion for example, during the debates he looked at the mediator like he was an idiot because he said “I agree with abortion but I just wanted to give it back to the states.” His decisions aren’t the best. His followers are terrifying. BUT his followers disagree with half the shit he agrees with (abortion and vaccines for example) which then makes the public believe he is like his crazy followers. 
 

im scared for the future but I think a lot of my fears and anxiety have to do with the media’s portrayal of what’s happening.

A federal abortion ban - HB78 - has been introduced into the House. I will be watching this bill to see what happens with it.

That was introduced on the 3rd of Jan. It’s failed to move beyond the judiciary committee so far.

Trump is not anti abortion never has been. My only concern with him is bringing us militarily into Israel. Besides that, I think he's just what we need.

He’s made it clear he is not against abortion but just wanted to give it back to the states.

We can all agree that was a dumb decision but he’s always been very clear he doesn’t want an abortion ban. That’s fear mongering from the left.

Giving it back to the states knowing that a lot of states are against it and will ban it is just as bad, why are you defending him on this? Whatever his personal feelings may be, Trump IS bad for abortion rights.

While I agree that Trump is bad on abortion rights the whole “giving it back to the states” kind of backfired on him this past election, depending on how you look at it.

 

Arizona, Nevada, Montana, and Missouri all amended Abortion rights into their state constitutions. All these states voted red, Montana and Missouri being to strong republican states. 
 

Overall though the idea of giving it back to the states puts a lot of women at risk since many red states will probably not codify it even though it proves to be something women want across all demographics.
