Lana Retweeting Some Questionable Shit

I didn't catch this retweet when it happened, probably because she deleted it 6h later. Anyway, I'm side-eying the fuck out that retweet. We don't know her intent was retweeting it, and it probably isn't any actual endorsement of pedophilia (perhaps it was just a joke, perhaps she just liked the controversial nature of the opinion of her work, perhaps it was a mistake), but regardless, it's in unbelievably poor taste. I'm just glad she or someone else had the sense to delete it.

I think we can all agree that Lana has a fucked up sense of humour. It's like when she replies to peoples hate comments and she calls people "c**ts" or stuff like that.

 

It's like she finds the comment funny because why the fuck would she be pro-pedo? So she's gonna acknowledge it just because it's messed up.

 

It's like you hear someone say "Oh, she likes to watch bondage porn" And then you will joke about it on Facebook or Twitter or with friends being like "Hold on just gonna go put on my leather straps" or something like that…

Right--it's a serious issue, but still something people joke about if you're not really thinking too deeply about the consequences. It's like once I was ironically putting way too many random, meaningless tags on my Instagram pictures, one of which was "#SIDS" or something. And someone who was actually affected by that called my ass out. Was I thinking of that initially? No. Will I ever make a joke like that again? No.

but I think that the linked article does a great job discussing some talking points, but I wonder what @ZZZzzziper realized? Did they listen to the AKA album and hear Put Me in a Movie? The affluent and sometimes older man is a motif in Lana work fo sho. But I think Lana's statements has more do with the wrongness and exploitation in a relationship (infidelity or exhange of money/services/connections for her company) and not blatant pedophilia.

i agree with @ personally, i reckon it's just her dark sense of humour. she probably found the allegation so ridiculous that she actually found it funny. although, i've retweeted things by mistake actually before, so maybe it was just that. either way, i'm certain she's not pro-pedophilia.

I think with some people might think the Lolita thing is a bit weird.

 

Must admit before I knew Lana and her Lolita tendancies, I didn't like anything related to it at all because it seemed really creepy. I still get a little creeped about it tbh and have my opinions about it but to do that and write an article about it is just...attention seeking.

I think she was being sarcastic. She was maybe publicly mocking the person who wrote that. I'm very sure that she's not pro-pedophilia in the slightest and even if she was then she wouldn't re-tweet that because it's obviously criticism. Like @ said, she has a dark sense of humour which is probably partly the reason too. I think she found it funny that someone said that about her.
