well yes? it was really close, taylor dropped one variant earlier in the day, then she allowed people to buy the album digitally in the uk at like 8pm (it closes at midnight), so she obviously did feel threatened lol

edit: and again, she only did this when charli was tracked to be #1, not when bon jovi were predicted to be #1 all week

She's been doing this, so there's no way the Swifties don't know about it. And you can't say it's the "fomo" hitting, because she's likely to release a huge version at the end with all of the new content (like she has in the past) so there's really no "exclusivity" in these variants. 

 

So, unless the fans stop buying in mass, Taylor will continue selling more variants

exactly, im not saying this isnt weird behavior, but im pretty sure everyone would do this if they had the fanbase… if she can keep the album charting, why not? the fans wont let anything happen to it. i mean in what world are people actually interested in buying 20 different versions of one album? swifties are clearly just doing it to help ttpd stay on top

taylor swift is literally the only artist who's going to this extent to keep her album at the #1 spot, and just because somebody can technically do something, doesn't mean they should, obviously  there is just no justification for selling 50+ album variants which are hardly different from the original project, especially in order to prevent other artists from being at the top, her only motivation here is insecurity and greed, i'm sorry but i just find it insane how anybody's defending her on this... but we all know how taylor swift fans can be

I just made my edit, but people are also annoyed taylor was silent up until charli was predicted to be #1 over bon jovi, it's not just because their fav got #2 (which is still really good??)

Again, Billboard needs to change the rule so this can’t keep happening. As long as it’s allowed to happen and her fans let it happen it’s fair game. 
 

I agree with other users that if 3 first draft voice memos of a 2 month old album was enough to steal the spot it wasn’t that secured anyway. 
 

Like I said earlier, this is now her longest charting #1 UK album (no matter how it got there) and I think that matters more to her than who she’s blocking. Plus she’s doing the Eras tour there now so all of her albums are seeing an increase.
