(I've been mulling over this post for 2 days because I know there could be a lot of mishearings above so please forgive any mistakes!!)

 

It really is an excellent project and I feel for her it coming out unofficially so early. She'll certainly be getting my coins w the physical tho and they'll be richly deserved. Currently easily tying with Cape God as my personal fave but then to me she's never missed. She has an unimpeachable discography and this record doesn't let her down to say the very least. It's funny too because I wasn't too taken with Black Eye - I liked it but didn't think it was particularly strong, but with the context of this album around it I'm appreciating it a hell of a lot more. I felt similarly about Focus too though. Allie X forever!

I'm also curious, that song is so good but I really have no idea what it's about. It's one of the ones that I'm most excited for her to talk about.

It could be another one of Allie's subconsciously written songs. Sometimes she has these moments where she writes lyrics that she doesn't even know the meanings of; she said when she writes on her own the lyrics usually come from a subconscious place, but when there's co-writers involved, especially in LA, you need to write about a concrete topic and she can't write the lyrics subconsciously as much. She described Bitch and After the Flame as subconscious, I think that could also apply to more of her self-written stuff like Cleaning Up My Act or Jabberwocky which also have quite abstract lyrics. Galina in particular lyrically reminds me of Elijah and Aurora (also self-written). 

 

My friend also had a theory that it could be a Greek mythology reference? The calm seas part is sorta Cape God coded I guess

the name itself can be translated to 'calm' or 'healer' from its origins.  the line 'she can see inside of me and make me well' kinda leads this from the beginning. similar to the themes on the rest of the album about fighting through suffering on her own, this song seems to be allie personifying the state of wellness or healing, and feeling desperate for it to 'wake up' and even mocking her by smiling and pretending to sleep while she's basically left on her own to suffer.
