Lana Del Rey performs "Ultraviolence" (Song) in Vancouver

Recommended Posts

also...it kinda sounds like "loving him was never enough" instead of "nothing here was never enough"? and possibly "heaven is...on earth"?

Do you think it's 'jim taught me that loving him was never enough' or 'jim tied me up. Loving him was never enough?'

He used to call me DN

It stood for deadly nightshade

Cause I was filled with poison

But blessed with beauty and rage

Jim told me that he hit me and it felt like a kiss

Jim brought me back

Reminded me of when we were kids

[Chorus]

This is ultraviolence

Ultraviolence

Ultraviolence

Ultraviolence

I can hear sirens, sirens

He hit me and it felt like a kiss

I can hear violins, violins

Give me all of that ultraviolence

[Verse 2]

He used to call me poison

Cause I was poison ivy

I could have died right there

Cause Jim was right beside me

Jim raised me up

He hurt me but it felt like true love

Jim taught me that

Loving him was ever enough

[Chorus]

We can go back to New York

Cause loving him was really hard

We can go back to the start

Where they don't know who we are

Heaven is on earth

I would do anything for you, babe

Guess it is meant to be

Crying tears of gold, like (?)

[spoken]

I love you the first time

I love you the last time

Yo soy la princesa, comprende these late nights (?)

Cause I'm your jazz singer

And you're my cult leader

I love you forever

I really love you forever

[Chorus]

I think it's tied me up to taught me that... such a shame  :poordat:

And Crying tears of gold, like Adam and Eve

God I love it, this is the song I love the most from this album so far. I can't believe how many times she says Jim though, I'd have felt awkward as fuck if Jimmy was there with her that night? Or was he?

Now we've heard BB, SoC, WC and this. Wonder how many will be kept secret until release.

I like the lyrics, I like the topics used (well, really seems like a 'new' version of HDB in some ways) and I like that this one sounds like it could be a "sonical brother" to Born To Die, you know, the way she sings and the instumental also has elements you could compare. I also like that this is kind of a straightforward song unlike West Coast and Shades of Cool. Even tough I like these two, it's nice to see that there are songs on UV besides Black Beauty and the West Coast Radio Mix that do not have big differences between chorus and verse.

However, i also can not say that this one really "hit me and it felt like a kiss" like for example Body Electric did when she performed it for the first time. It's - well, it's a typical lanasong and there is nothing really bad about it, but judging from the live version this may not be my all-time-favourite song from the album.

Just do it. Just do it - don't wait!

i think lana mentioning jim so many times shows how comfortable she is getting with releasing very personal music

He hurt me, but it felt like true love.

The best song from the album so far.

:agree2:

I just can't wait to hear the studio version...And I hope Lana didn't record it while having a cold :smh:
