Charli XCX

If this thread isn't a testament to her artistic capability, idk what is. The way she is able to perfectly stitch the word to a song, finding those little pockets and placing a syllable. it takes a good ear.

This!!!! Especially when Lady Gaga only rose to fame singing about partying (Just Dance) or her desire to be rich etc (The Fame). None of it was ground breaking, even her style was a rip off of Bowie but just more drunk white girl. All she did was write meaningless pop music and catchy lyrics yet she's being used an example to discredit Charli.

They’re confusing artistry and label budget.

You all really think she is all that? Maybe good sis Ayesha was right, angels are the most fucked up loons, imagine thinking Charli did something more than Gaga or Sia. POP 2, Vroom Vroom, No 1 Angel is not pushing boundaries... SOPHIE, A.G. Danny etc. Did it all before Charli. You all will make me unstan her

LUCKY TANGENT

Since we wanna bring up Gaga, Speechless's chorus is identical in structure to Lucky's verse (well, the whole song tbh). They both follow a descending pattern I, V, VIm, V, IV

As Charli has no artistic ability whatsoever, she sings an Ab on a Bb, which is the only minor seventh that is actually in key with the song (every major scale has only one minor seventh completely in key) and, if you were wondering, is one of the many reasons why the song sounds so sad. If you try and play the chord pattern above without the V7 it sounds one why: however, when you play it with a Bb7 instead of a normal Bb... girl...

Also, Lucky tangent aside, I really doubt Charli has no say whatsoever in the process. She's been making music ever since she was 16. She does contribute to her music and this is why she has been able to maintain the quality she has given us throughout the changes in styles. She hasn't always had SOPHIE and A. G. to PC the fuck out of her beats.

The common denominator in her discography is Charlotte and her alone.

After all, there's a reason Elizabeth II gave her the throne and said she is the greatest example of british culture that has ever existed.
