13beachess 7,616 Posted May 13 finally had my first listen of the album. and umm I am very disappointed. </3 oh well, I wasn't super impressed of Houdini and TS when they were first released (but now I listen to them like daily) so maybe the rest will grow on me too. Hope so. Loooove the album cover tho!! It's so... neat! Even though (like basically everyone says) it doesn't really match with the music. 2 Quote If I get a little prettier can I be your baby? creditcardromancer 752 Posted June 9 I've listened to this album 20 times (according to Last.fm) since it came out which obviously doesn't include listening to it on vinyl or at work. It's really too bad some people can't let go of their expectations and just enjoy a great album for what it is.

I'm still traumatized by that one song that sounds like a trashy Eurovision song. It's not that I had high expectations - I just expected a decent record. Yet it seems that this album is completely flopping as it should be. If I were Dua I'd be embarrassed and hit the studio big time - especially since she''s dropped it between Cowboy Carter and HMHAS - two very strong record by artists who have obviously put in a lot more effort, not to mention have more talent in the first place. This Dua era is best forgotten asap.

Everyone I've played it for irl actually likes it and has 0 interest in the beyonce or billie albums, it's only chronically online 14 year olds complaining about it lol.
Flamingos 564 Posted June 10 RO is a great album, Dua‘s best so far. Couldn‘t enjoy it more. Cowboy Carter was a joke! If this is what people call country music, then they haven’t listened to real country music yet. Not even to mention all these boring and bland interludes. And BE‘s album isn‘t a stroke of genius, it‘s been done million times before, nothing about this music and production is new, and the lyrics couldn‘t be more average. But why the need to compare it to Dua at all? Dua‘s the more talented singer, that‘s for sure! 1 Quote 💜

evalionisameme 13,889 Posted July 3 It will be interesting to see if her influences actually come out in the next record- the way this album was marketed as an alt pop record by her was so odd
Glitter Boy 16,558 Posted July 10 lol hyper late but I finally listened to the album. It's not as bad as y'all make it to be aside from Anything for Love and Illusion, I enjoy everything else at different levels. My favourites were Falling Forever, Maria, Happy for You, Houdini and Whatcha Doing. overall very cohesive and fun to listen to 1 Quote "I'm wild, I'm free, no man can handle me"

West Coast 45,795 Posted July 23 I had time to listen to the extended versions, and I feel like it was a poorly executed "good" idea. It really had me thinking that sometimes less is more, it mostly felt clunky and it made the pacing more "awkward". Houdini extended is good, but the rest not so much.

For me the extended version made the album better for me lol. The original felt short and lifeless; the extended version adds life to it. Honestly this record needed more live instrumentations

Mer 61,781 Posted July 28 Radical Optimism has grown on me soooo much it’s the perfect summer album. I think she released it too soon in the season and too close to other conglomerate releases and it got overshadowed, but it’s a perfect summer album. If it came out in June I think it would’ve had a much “bigger” moment. 0 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹
