CrazySister 2,239 Posted October 16, 2016 We always imagine something when we hear some song, right? So, when you hear Lana's songs, what scenarios and other associations come into your mind? For example: When I hear Oh Say Can You See, the first scenario that comes into my mind is something close to this: Other example is Off to The Races. I don't have any of the pics that represented what I had in mind , but the closest thing that I found was this behind the scenes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5IC_XVJNXE Edit: Excuse me, I'm going to transfer some visuals for OTTR to this post I have five visuals for off to the races, not in order: one is her in front of the mirror with the dress on spoiler and It's the sugar daddy's POV. There is other where she and her man are walking through the Las Vegas streets, being that she's high and he's behind her to prevent she ends up getting hurt. Have similarities with what I saw in Smarty, except that the guy in Smarty(that could maybe be OTTR guy, don't know ) didn't seem to care about her . The other visual have similar coloring of a part of the Shades of Cool video, when she got out of the swiming pool and the guy was like: "Goddess!" . I see Lana in the border of the pool, just with her legs in the water, and she smiles when her old man walks to her, with a "I wanna do bad things to you" smile . It's the same thing of what you hear in the beggining of Heavy Hitter, except that there's no overdose . 4th visual is both in front of the gates of a mansion and the last is them playing in a casino, she's with the same dress of the first visual: http://herbrasize.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Emma-Stone-Gangster-Squad-380x330.jpg Oh, Off to The Races have a nocturnal scenario with a lot of city lights because it's vegas, baby! Sometimes I associate her albums with days too: A.K.A is wednesday and Honeymoon is sunday or monday, Born to Die can be tuesday or friday and Paradise and Ultraviolence can be friday or saturday.PS: Sometimes the days can change, but it's mostly these that I wrote.I don't associate that much with colors, but I think i can see that Bel Air is gold, Money Power Glory is green, Body Electric is blue and green, Prom Song has a little purple, etc. I can associate more with periods of the day, I think:I will do with Honeymoon, just to show an example Honeymoon - Night or daybreak.Music to Watch Boys to - End of the day, almost night already.Terrence Loves You - Begining of the day.God Knows I Tried - Morning or afternoon.High By The Beach - Morning.Freak - AfternoonArt Deco - Night ( )Burnt Norton(Interlude) - Nothing . There are some that I can't associate with nothing sometimes.Religion - Morning.Salvatore - Afternoon or end of the day.The Blackest Day - Night or daybreak.24 - Daybreak.Swan Song - MorningDon't Let Me Be Misunderstood - End of the day. And it's getting dark really fast. So I created this just because I was curious about other people associations and visuals . It can be words, colors, days, objects, anything!

bunoner 5,730 Posted October 16, 2016 Oh Say Can You See brings a really awful picture in my mind. Lizzy sitting next to the grave of her recently passed away lover in the graveyard, as cars run down the highway and her completely alone, just playing her guitar and singing her song. "Nighttime is almost ours..." 5 Quote It's only my dark city, only my new man...
Starsx 1,849 Posted October 16, 2016 BBM Baby makes me think of a young girl in her bedroom dancing around and waiting for the guy she likes to text her!
reputation 6,321 Posted October 16, 2016 That reminds me, Carmen always reminds me of a girl with depression, as the beginning violin sounds really sad, as if someone is sighing. and the bridge sounds almost forced and the end is really abrupt. that song always gives me chills Lolita always reminds me of a car chase. the beat during the chorus always reminds me of the police shooting at the car and the 2nd chrous is them dying. Blue Jeans reminds me a murder, almost as if the girl knows shes being stalked and she's going to be murdered, but the man murdering her is someone she loves and she doesn't want to tell
CrazySister 2,239 Posted October 16, 2016 I see a drunk Lana dancing in a trailer park with her mean guy when I hear Smarty. It's like that part on Shades of Cool video when she's dancing, but with a scenario close to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q44CPl8l9ys Edit: Sorry, I made a mistake and I put "Put Me In A Movie" instead of "Smarty" . Already fixed.
Lust 4,031 Posted October 16, 2016 When I listen to God's and monsters, sex comes to my mind cause of the lyrics. Whenever I hear bluejeans I imagine a guy being arrested while Lana is crying. For black beauty I always imagine Lana wearing black clothes in a dark house. For the other woman I imagine a woman waiting for her man. And for religion I usually imagine Lana praying I've associated most tracks with colors (Great thread idea btw)

Summersault 824 Posted October 16, 2016 I often get reminded of more or less specific memories of places, atmospheres and sceneries I've experienced in my life, sometimes from so far back that I can't even clearly remember when it happened, it's just imprinted into my mind and get's stirred up when I listen to Lana. I'm not very good at explaining those memories in a meaningful way so I'm just gonna spare you the second hand embarrasment Two examples of association that are easier to explain for me: Off To The Races: It always made me think of the movie Lolita (the one directed by Adrian Lyne) even before I knew how much Lana was into that novel. God Knows I Tried: The first time I listened to it I had a very clear vision of Lana lounging wistfully in a dark room, with the golden sky outside window, listening to records, being sad and all of that, as she describes in the lyrics. Then she dropped the video for Freak and from 2:05 to around 2:20 that scene is so similar to my vision for GKIT that I was like It was like she had taken images in my brain and put them into a music video. But then again, my associations were influenced by her imagery, and maybe it's not that weird that she would use the same type of imagery for two songs on the same album. it was a freaky experience none the less.

This part of the video is close to what I imagined for The Blackest Day, that actually have a similar scene of what I imagine when I think of Lana writing her songs too haha. But different of the scene of her writing, the scenario is in black and white instead of colored. I also have the same image for Your Girl, but YG have dark blue coloration in the mix and I see city lights, while with TBD I don't see that. I can easily associate Your Girl with this pic too: For GKIT, the first time I listened I imagined her in the High By The Beach mansion. She was in the living room and I think it had a piano there too, although it is a guitar that played on the song . Also, I saw her dancing just like in the Shades of Cool video and I think the floor of her house was the same of Shades of Cool house. I have a scene for Brooklyn Baby too : Basically is her and her boyfriend that plays guitar, have long hair and tattoos, but we can't see because he is with black leather. You can even imagine Barrie, since he helped her writing and they were dating at the time. Now back, they are sitting in the floor of a Brooklyn apartment with a lot of papers around them because they are trying to compose a song. They decided to make a pause and smoke the hydroponic weed. Then Lana starts to look around her (the rare jazz collection, her beat poetry books, etc. There is an open window with billowing curtain too, from where the noise of New York enters) and then BOOM! "Brooklyn Baby" is born . BB have a black and white photography and it's probably afternoon.
VioletsnRoses 50 Posted October 25, 2016 I always think of Bel Air taking place in a misty garden at twilight. In Off To The Races, I picture Lana held in custody and there comes a smooth older looking man coming in shooting up the place and taking Lana with him as they escape into the night to Las Vegas.
kitschesque 9,884 Posted November 9, 2016 Backfire always brings this edit onto my mind: Longin for her man to come back, all dressed up back from the city to finally work more on the relationship and it obviously not matching the "environment" anymore, because they can't just simply come back, Lana desperately smoking a cigarette thinking all the things that happen between them through... It doesn't even suit the era it was written in, yet still my mind brings this very specific picture. TV in Black and White reminds me of this particular Marfa take: This is rather bizzare to think of, but that's what's happening in my mind - her sitting by the window (Greenvich Avenue is possibly why I clearly see her observing the street), hoping he'd finally show up magically coming back from the prison and daydreaming of the reunion in this sweet, naive aesthetic. Once again, the age difference with the picture pops up, but it's brief enough for me to forget the detai.
SissyReed 579 Posted November 10, 2016 Back in 2k11 I had this music video for "Kill Kill" in my head where Lana's taking care of her dying lover (he's sick or smth) - I'm in love with a dying man,I have done everything I can - but she decides she cannot stay with him and watch him dying... - Love you, I do, Stay here, I won't, As stars fade from your eyes - She fools him that everything's alright - Tell me about Ray and his girl, Do I know, Ray is going to meet you? - and then puts him gently to sleep. In the end of the song I can totally see her walking away at night, with her suitcase on an almost empty road, kinda like in a noir movie, maybe waiting for a ride, maybe just walking away... - One, two, Make it fun, Don't trust Anyone -

LAman 3,224 Posted December 25, 2016 I imagined a music video for OTTR, and it would start out like a photoshoot that resembles Nancy Sinatra's video "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'." Lana would look like how she does in part of the Carmen video while laying down on a pool chair like she does in MTWBT. Here are some visuals of that below:
