I thought I was the only one who caught onto this, Lana's impact I mean. I noticed that a lot of pop artists have quitted the quirky and vibrant image and now the music is a little bit moodier and serious. And don't forget the slew of concept albums (or wannabe concept albums) that are comming out now. Ok maybe not a whole bunch, but almost every alt girl has some sort huge concept in their album, something we weren't seeing a whole bunch prior to Lana. Lana has sort of kicked off the whole "I'm broken and messed up" theme that we see from Melanie Martinez, and Halsey ( and to an extent Tove Lo) I'm also kinda done with it too. (Lana and Tove Lo are the exceptions) But that's just my take on it.

So I am not as articulate as the other members on this forum, but the other day, I had bought a book from a thrift shop titled " Four Metaphysical Poets" discussing the works of John Donne, George Herbert, Henry Vaughn, and Richard Crashaw. There was a poem that I found by John Donne under the section Love Unfulfilled  and I saw a poem called Loves Deity.
 
" I long to talk to some old lovers ghost
  Who died before the god of Love was borne"
 
I thought these two lines, with emphasis on the first line, kind of reflected one of Lana's themes in her music which is reminiscing over a lover that has left this world (K). It didn't really hit me until I watched the music video for Shades of Cool, where Lana appears to be a ghost narrating the life of an old lover that she had before she died.
 
This is something that stuck out to me, that's all.

I just realized that this song describes how I like to decorate my room lol with Christmas lights and a blue bedspread haha

I think the songs Out with a bang, Bel-Air,  Starry Eyed and God Knows I Tried ---are the best that she has ever created. *Carmen, and BTD are wonderful too*

I always think of Bel Air taking place in a misty garden at twilight. In Off To The Races, I picture Lana held in custody and there comes a smooth older looking man coming in shooting up the place and taking Lana with him as they escape into the night to Las Vegas.

I'm sick and tired of hyperrealism. Auto-biographies. Ego. All this over-dramatic bullshit is tiring. I feel like Instagram/Facebook/Tumblr etc generation absorbed everything including music. Now it's all a constant self-vomiting thing.
