Monicker 3,035 Posted September 8, 2012 I'm still trying to figure out what tune it is that the music box is playing in the intro and outro. Does anyone know?? I NEED to know, it's killing me badly! I think it's a traditional French song. Do we have any French people on here? 0 Quote "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." -Wittgenstein

It goes with the melody of the song and he she performs the first few lines.

Wryta Thinkpiece 3,344 Posted January 14, 2014 She says "Like you always did when we was," it's like the "ain't" of past-tenses; it's substandard English, and pretty much incorrect, but depending on where you go, you may hear it more/less often.I never cared for it, more-so for the way the opening's sung, but it's definitely cute. Paris is so adorable, I'm in love with it otherwise.

She does say "we was first dating", which is grammatically incorrect. (She also sometimes sings "we was born to die", also incorrectly.) I wouldn't take cues from Lana about English grammar rules since she routinely does ultraviolence to them. Remember, this girl became internet famous for a song that uses the incorrect superlative "bestest", switches between second and third person object pronouns referring to her lover at least four times (six if "you the bestest" is not a direct quotation), has dangling participles everywhere, and ends with an ambiguous implied infinitive for which it is not only ambiguous what its implied object is, but whether it even has one! #evilenglishteacher 5 Quote Stalking you has sorta become like my occupation. And you do have a point about her playing with grammar, and I think she does it nicely sometimes when you're not really thinking much about it. (I'm sure she knows it's wrong.)
Sitar 22,213 Posted January 15, 2014 Guys it's as simple as her thinking she's a retro glam bitch. "Was" replacing "were" was definitely a conscious decision to sound more...like Reba? Old-fashioned America. The South. You get it. I have a neighbor who abuses this like crazy.

Dominikx4 25,413 Posted November 6, 2016 Can we please talk about Paris Like, how did Lana manage to make this 4-chord-song but it doesn't sound basic af the lyrics the melody the vocals This song makes me wanna get a daddy and go to Paris with him really, and ofc the godlike bridge "Singing at the sacre-coeur and climbing up the tour eiffelunder the stars, we are, we are dreaming" and then the whispered "of Paris". It makes me wet every time. But I never see anyone praising it, it's really an underrated bop. My absolute favorite from her unreleased catalogue.
