So upon my first listen I wasn't wowed but I'm listening to the tracks one by one and starting to form my thoughts on it.. my only real criticism is the writing.

We went from this

And I'm off to the races, cases of Bacardi chasers
Chasin' me all over town 'cause he knows I'm wasted,
Facin' time again on Rikers Island and I won't get out
Because I'm crazy baby, I need you to come here and save me
I'm your little scarlet, starlet, singin' in the garden
Kiss me on my open mouth
Ready for you

To this

Hey, what you doing?

Not a lot
Shaking and moving
In a local spot
Baby don't ask me why
Don't ask me why
(Why, why, why, why, why, why?)

Some moments have really strong writing harkening back to older material but at times it just seems so lazy, especially when we know what Lana is capable of.

I think this is an album I will listen to one by one, not all at once like I do with UV and BTD. When listened to sequentially I sadly felt myself getting a little bored  :tsk:

Get Free sounds like an exact cross between Creep by Radiohead and Falling by Julee Cruise.

Incredible album all the same. Slowly processing it all.

13 Beaches, Cherry, When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing and Tomorrow Never Came all masterpieces.

I never hated Coachella but didnt love it, its really growing on me within the context of the album, im starting to really like it.

Also, ive been playing all the new songs so much, i played Love first time since hearing the whole album 18 times and it still really is such a beautiful song, i love it.

Did they snatch @Stargirl 's joke? smh

Btw many have said it but that line in Get Free: I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride makes me think that those theories saying "this album is the closure to an era that has started since BTD" are true. Well, kinda obvious with the album name lol. Maybe not the total closure but she's trying to move on.

Same..she is dumbing the world she made with all of these albums and joins the real world...and LFL is the transition

...just you and me feeling the heat even when the sun goes down...

nnn sure you can isolate that one case (and LFL definitely has its fair share of lazy lyrics) but TNC's lyrics when looked at as a whole are better than probably anything off of BTD  :biblio: I dunno but if you're gonna talk about strong writing I don't really think off to the races is an example to "harken" back to, it's so full of clichés that only really lana can pull off because, well, she's lana  :rip:

I still can't stop listening to TNC. It's so perfect.

- The acoustic sounds

- The lyrics

- I love the Bob Dylan reference

- I love when Sean sings the 'wine' part over again

- When they both sing in the song

I could go on. :oprah:

How is Off TO The races good lyrically? I mean they're surely tumblr-quote ready and god knows this place is filled with tumblrers but I wouldn't call them exactly good. What an overrated sing when it's really awful

Love, Heroin and Get Free are her best songs ever. Feel much more genuine than anything she's done before and they're just better in general. If you disagree you're stoopid and ugly
