Look at this discussion I started, it’s so lovely to see everyone sharing their favorite lyrics instead of arguing of the best songs. #ProudOfMyself :poordat:

i thought she was quoting some drug not marzipan  :O

I think she's talking about her childhood days were she dreamed about candies instead of heroin. You know, " it's innocence lost". But this may be a reach lmao

Edit: word is not what I thought

Altho I hear marzipan I thought she was saying another word world for some medical drug that I can't spell and marzipan was me mishearing ... but i like the innocence lost interpretation tbh, marzipan is also present in kids' fairy tales (grimm brothers)

Same. I was very confused at first but then I found the innocence interpretation and I'm pretty comfortable with it.

okay DONT ATTACK, but like listening to Coachella can be cringy but the first verse to the chorus is actually pretty sweet. Like the melody is cute and im feeling it a the moment. I don't think it deserves the amount of hate that it gets but I do agree that it definitely sounds rushed and isn't her best by FAR

Ya'll Heroin isn't even a sad song, well the meaning is i guess but it doesn't sound sad at all. At least not to me, it's more miserable and depressing sounding

Wait, how is "miserable" and "depressing" not "sad"? :biblio:

Idk, like the "Oh say can you see demo" and songs like "disco" and "Ultraviolence" are depressing. They're just kinda dark and eeary. Whereas sad songs to me are songs like Video Games, Old Money, Terrence Loves You... Full of real reasons to be sad and emotional, and not just for the sake of it. If that makes any sense?

Totally agree with you. There is nothing sad about it.

It's more just a calm song with a cool climax towards the end.

There is nothing emotional in her vocal delivery

Now that i think of it, there aren't many sad songs on LFL at all! For a Lana Del Rey album that's so strange. I think the only real sad song lyrically is 13 Beaches. A lot of the others i get teary with but for many different reasons. For example, Love only makes me cry because it sounds very bittersweet and hopeful, but it's not actually sad. LFL clearly isn't sad, Cherry has a sad meaning and story but it's more sexy and edgy. White Mustang is just boring and lifeless. I guess you could say BPBP and TNC are slightly emotional, but they don't scream sadness... they're quite uplifiting. Heroin is, like i said earlier...more dark than sad. Change is creepy sounding and hopeful... and Get Free is hopeful.

I'd say the only tears i've shed from this album haven't been caused by songs related to pain or loss (unlike most Lana albums) but with hope and joy and moving forward.

Returning to the lyric discussion, how could I forget:

My rose garden dreams,

set on fire by fiends,

and all my black beaches (are RUINED!)

My celluloid scenes,

are torn at the seams,

and I fall to pieces...BITCH!

I fall to pieces, when I'm with youuuu...

Not only these are nice lyrics, but they also have a nice vocal delivery and cool production (the back up lyrics that we still can't understand lmao)
