    Avril Lavigne

Imagine being 35 years old and still writing about teenage topics. Some artists never really evolve. It's a shame, though. The collab with Nicki Minaj also seems really awkward. It reminds me of that time she did this Girlfriend remix with Lil' Mama. But hey, anything for a quick buck I guess.
  2. Oh, I'm sorry you misunderstood what I was trying to say. The reason I asked whether or not she'll end her album with a cover is because I'm trying to understand her artistic decisions and to spark a discussion about that in this thread. There were certain reasons why she ended her previous albums with covers and reasons why she stopped doing them for LFL. I don't think we've discussed that before, so that's why I asked
  3. So do you guys think she'll end this album with a cover? I mean, I know she broke with that tradition with LFL, but maybe that was a one time thing?
  4. Yikes, this whole situation is so messy. I wasn't sure if I wanted to participate in this thread, because everyone has such a strong opinion on the matter (both sides) and at the end of the day, LB is just an online forum (no offense). I do agree that it is a delicate subject, though. I just want to say that, after reading the whole thread, I feel like something's up with her. The silent treatment she's giving the fanbase, the laziness (her own words about shooting the album cover, and also the way she dresses lately), saying she wants to be an "instagram baddie", and now this Hillsong church situation. It's just an observation; I'm not trying to judge, but she seems so restless. As if she's having some sort of identity crisis. Idk

I'm not sure if it counts as some sort of ghetto type of area or as a dangerous environment, but I think she's referring to an actual spot: the Gas Station. According to this Wikipedia page on Downtown music, the Gas Station was a space in Manhattan that supported Downtown music from the 1960s. A google search on the place tells us this: From the New York Times: "The alternative studio, gallery and performance space at Second Street and Avenue B had been an abandoned gas station and then a shooting gallery for heroin users before five local artists routed the junkies, swept away a carpet of used hypodermic needles and erected the sculpture and a one-of-a-kind fence made of scrap metal." source "Initially an actual gas station, it was abandoned and then subsumed by the badlands culture of the East Village in the 1980s, which turned it into a junkie hive before some entrepreneurial souls cleaned the place up and turned it into the performance space." source "GAS STATION was an abandoned gas station at Avenue B & 2nd Street NYC that we used as a metal workshop, bar, outdoor sculpture exhibition space, an indoor and outdoor performance space, concerts venue and billboard art location. We welded everything out of abandoned scrap metal trash, including the perimeter fence and chairs." source Video footage of inside the Gas Station here. Pictures of the (now long gone) Gas Station: On one of the pictures, someone commented: "Probably the worst corner in the east village for the sale of heroin. At any given time there would be 20 plus people hawking drugs without any concern for the police." In this context, lyrics such as "Club queen on the downtown scene", "Shining like gunmetal, cold and unsure", "Baby you're so ghetto", and "You're looking to score" suddenly make sense. I obviously can't know for sure, but I assume she must've known about the area, as she frequently performed in bars and other small venues around the East Village area. And hey, wasn't she the "Queen of the Gas Station"?
  8. The Gucci campaign is stunning. Ugh their minds
  9. Why are some of y'all so pressed about the single cover? It's a creative choice, and most of all her decision. To me, the "simple" artwork she's delivered so far just fit the aesthetic of the music. Nothing seems fabricated or fake and very much DIY. Besides, so what if she seems lazy in that department? The girl's been releasing albums non-stop. Give her a break lol
  10. Who would've thought? From daddy to baddie issues
  11. "You took my sadness out of context" lmao it's happening Queen of foreshadowing
  12. I think she knows that the "black narcissist" line can spark controversy, but I don't think it's what she intends. If this is her being honest about her emotions and if she wants to reflect that in her music, then why should she censor herself just to avoid possible ambiguity? She chooses her words carefully, so I think it's more about her being open and honest than being racist. It's some introspective sad girl shit right?
  13. Some people here tend to make value judgments when they don't understand something. Which is such a shame, because there's probably more meaning to it.
  14. It's definitely a reference to Black Narcissus (the 1947 movie), which is a great movie tbh! Edit: nvm, she clearly says narcissist.
  15. That's exactly what she means. And that's exactly the reason why she is smiling now too on the single cover!
  16. And don't forget the orange bracelet she made for Jack:
  17. While I agree with you that studio time probably costs money, we don't know what their process of making music is. I mean, they were watching a baseball game and she was vaping lol. How precious is that booked studio time really?
  18. Lmao, what song title generator did she use this time? I already like God Bless All the Beautiful Dancing Coachella People at War in the World with Dangerous Problems and Beautiful Hope - But I Have Woodstock in My Mind

  20. I agree with you completely. There's nothing to complain about. I've said it before and I'll say it again: people should stop complaining so much, log out sometimes and try to have a life. Besides, it's Christmas lol. Let the good sis enjoy the holidays too
  21. I guess some people like to make the same joke twice a day to show the internet that they really are funny . Great contributions lol
