this thread is only a place to "fester hate" bc people came running just to bash kim for an EP she released... it's been post after post saying the same shit over and over again. if y'all wanna have a discussion, maybe all these people should stop repeating themselves and just say what they have to say.
some people are still going to be fans of kim petras.

I guess if people can’t stop being hateful to each other here then maybe the thread should be locked for a little while. But there is no reason to close discussion unless it really gets out of hand. I just don’t understand why some people can’t walk away from their phones or computers instead of leaving hateful comments.

What gets me is that you can share the same beliefs as someone else, but if you don’t express them in the same exact way, your character is put into question & all sorts of disgusting insults directed at you are apparently OK. The first few years of lanaboards wasn’t like this, people could disagree (or even just share different perspectives of the same opinion) and actually have a respectful conversation about it. Not anymore unfortunately. 

Do y’all have jobs or hobbies, or do you spend your time trash talking artists you don’t like for fun? Mama go spend time talking about an artist you DO like. 

What's this obsession with locking threads some of you have? Don't you think it's better to have a place where the discourse is happening and where you can educate others about what's going on rather than basically just pretending it doesn't exist? Sounds rather counterproductive to me, regardless of your opinion on Kim and the EP. 
 
Although I am obviously aware of Kim's connection with Dr. Luke and think she should be held accountable for choosing to continue working with him – especially because she's truly talented and honestly wouldn't need him to succeed – a lot of what's going on in this thread right now seems like bandwagon hate to me. Obviously you're right in calling her out, but I hope those of you who are so determined to boycott Kim Petras' music don't ever stream Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes and My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson, Who Knew and U + Ur Hand by Pink, Girlfriend and Hot by Avril Lavigne, I Kissed A Girl, Hot N Cold, California Girls, Teenage Dream, Roar, Dark Horse and Unconditionally by Katy Perry, Circus, Till The World Ends and Hold It Again Me by Britney, Party In The USA and Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, Where Have You Been by Rihanna, Primadonna and How To Be A Heartbreaker by Marina, and Need To Know and You Right by Doja Cat; not to mention songs written or produced by other artists employed by his publishing companies. yep guess i’m a rape apologist for not wanting to “cancel” Kim over a business relationship that i know nothing about. do i think she should continue working with him?? no. am i putting money in dr puke’s pockets by illegally downloading kim’s songs?? no. 
cancel culture doesn’t work. whether or not Kim comes to her senses & stops working with him, she’ll continue her career. all this outrage has done is bring more attention & streams to the EP. 

it absolutely is transphobia, whether intentional or not. I'm not talking about her working with Luke I'm talking about the people who criticize everything she does and who are making fun of her body and how she acts (for those of you claiming that's not going on- read the past few pages of the thread?)

HOW are her clothes unflattering? She's literally wearing a crop top from her merch and a mini skirt, this is literally the most basic outfit possible. Tell me what should she do to keep this kind of outfit from being unflattering? I'm sure if, I don't know, Paris Hilton had worn it, there WOULDN'T even be a discussion.
 
And yes, I said that I love how she embraces her body because this is the first time I see her in revealing clothes like that and I love how comfortable she looks.

I love the aesthetic of this new era and I think she looks great. I also love how she embraces her body. I get it you miss her girly girl bubblegum era, but I think your comments on her “loosing herself” and “looking disturbing” isn’t fair, she looks like she’s having a great time. You can come at her working with Luke, right, but don’t criticize her looks this way, because I’m sure if it were some other pop star with pinched waist and snatched body you would’ve LIVED. Also, she just never was that great of a dancer and without high ponytail and glittery outfits you can notice that more than before but that’s okay. I still love her energy.

I understand and respect your opinion. I don’t disagree when it comes to people calling her out for trying to sweep his behavior under the rug. She would have been better off not answering the question at all in that interview. I just notice people jumping at the opportunity to chime in with hateful remarks (whether it’s here, twitter, or insta) and that’s what annoys me. 
 
i’ve just noticed this behavior in the majority of artist threads here lately whether or not it is warranted. People have become so comfortable with being rude to anyone that doesn’t share their exact sentiments. Even if there’s common ground, it’s like nobody can have a respectful conversation anymore.

if y’all held everyone in your personal lives to the same standards that you hold celebrities then you’d have very few (if any) people in your life. it just blows my mind how people act like they know a celebrity personally to the point where they insult them for being associated with a bad person. like what does complaining online actually do to make a difference?? & no i’m not referring to the people who comment on these things from a place of legitimate concern / education, but the swarm of gays that hop on a bandwagon of hate for the sake of expelling their own nastiness & negativity. 
 
trans women in pop music are virtually nonexistent & I just don’t see the point in spitting venom at Kim for seizing good business / career opportunities. yes her interview about dr puke was tone deaf, but you really can’t deny internet culture’s obsession with hating on any and every woman in pop music under the guise of morality. the way some of you seize the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and trash her (and other pop girls) over some irrelevant mess… if it wasn’t Kim, dr puke would still be collecting checks from his past major hits or another girl (like doja cat)…..
