You know what, I actually enjoyed the video ! Sure there are some flaws : the Debussy part with ONLY the underwater scenes, the fact that you can sense that it's recycled ...
But when I place this video in the context of UV, it makes me happy : the rural scenery, the sun, her clothes, "Jim" ... It's like justice was made (I too, have a UV video coming up by the way ! )

And I'm a big detractor of everything that's come after Tropico (Shades of Cool passed the test, though)

Edit : here's the music video I was talking about, if anybody's interested :

This would have been my reaction 6 months ago. I flipped after the release of HM because I expected her to do something "great", to become the biggest star in the universe just to prove the bullies wrong. I didn't listen to LDR for about two months when accidentally I started to listen again in my car because I forgot to take her cd out. And I liked her voice, is mesmerizing. That was the reason why I followed her in the first place. I started to listen again to HM and I discovered a beautiful record, mellow but with subtle beauty in almost every track.

So who is Lana? The BTD, Blue Jeans vamp or the melancholic/silly girl from her homemade videos? I think that at the beginning of the LDR era she wanted to become a huge pop star but "upon an unfortunate series of events she saw those dreams dashed and divided like a million stars in the night sky" as she say it in the Ride monologue. And slowly she reverted back to her safe place doing strange videos and non-commercial music that we loved from the pre-fame era. But now we are criticizing her to the ground for being herself.

Is this video a great artistic statement? No, but it's beautiful, has a connection with the song, singing about being a freak it's less literal than singing about Jim (Jones), and, despite some of you said, has a story that it's not obvious and it's up for interpretation. Technically it's a mess but without diminishing the beauty of it. If you don't like the Debussy part don't watch it.

I watched 10 times with ease, it's calming and the Debussy part mesh well with Freak which is a good song.

She doesn't want to be a pop-star anymore are you ready to accept it? I do and I enjoyed the video

I loved it so much, it was really beautiful and dreamy, definitely screams Ultraviolence and Jonestown at some parts though, loved IT. When she places the acid into his mouth and the color changes the underwater sequence with Debussy was really beautiful, watched it like 10 times already

Freak is one of my favorite songs on Honeymoon, stoked she picked it for a video.

Oh come on, I respect every single opinion but this is just... Do you hear the passion she pours on Honeymoon's second verse, all of God Knows I Tried, Religion, 24? The sadness and helplessness in Terrence Loves You's bridge? The dramatic vocals in Salvatore's chorus, The Blackest Day? The minute-long high note she holds in Burnt Norton? ( ) She sounds absolutely passionate and confident.

You can't just dictate which songs are her career highlights. That's the point of a personal opinion. Just because you evidently adore these songs doesn't mean that everyone should agree with you and it certainly doesn't mean that they are Lana's career highlights, period. Your opinion isn't all that. It means as much as everyone else's opinion around here.

For the record, I think TBD is a career highlight too.

Honestly. It was my least favourite full album by Lana at first but it grew on my so rapidly that I may even think of it as her greatest work so far now. It´s just the most Lana Del Rey album she could have ever created. Its so overstuffed with Lanaism to the point that if she makes another album in the same dreamy vein with Nowels it might not work anymore. I mean even this album is too much for some people and wont be probably comercially successful. Despite my love towards LDR I hope she will completely ditch this Lana Del Rey persona next era with her hollywood, glamour and daddy obesssion and come back as Elizabeth Grant. She really needs to change the things up or it becomes pretty tiring and suffocating. Something more intimate, honest and mature. Something in the vein of Destroyer´s last album Poison Season could work. Its described as baroque pop as well.

I feel the same way - I can not listen to HM all of the time; especially not during daytime or when I'm working because the songs are sooo slow. But in the evening and with headphones on it's a true listening experience.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about the record. I feel like all of the songs are beautiful melodically and are rather interesting production-wise (excluding a few tracks), and she sounds so ethereal and angelic throughout most of the album, albeit, I don't feel any sort of connection this album like I have her previous works. It's not that it's emotionless, because I think at certain moments she sounds extremely emotional, but I just personally am struggling to relate or empathise with the album as a whole. Like, the songs are amazing, but I just don't feel much of anything when I listen to the album, like I do with songs like Bel Air, Video Games, Born to Die, Ultraviolence, West Coast, Shades of Cool, Gods & Monsters, and so on. Honeymoon is almost too relaxed.

Also, the lyrics are a huge step-down compared to all of her last albums, in my opinion. What happened to the elaborate descriptions of Off to the Races, or the poetic nature of songs like Bel Air and West Coast, or the intelligent lyricism behind songs like Gods & Monsters or Dark Paradise? I miss those days. Honeymoon has pretty mediocre lyrics compared to the past, and I think Lana even knows that herself, considering she mentioned in a couple of interviews this era that she wasn't very focused on the lyrics, but more on creating interesting soundscapes. Apart from the bridge and the "dreaming away your life" lines in the title track, the lyrics are overly-simplistic and rather cliche. God Knows I Tried, Swan Song and Honeymoon all suffer from Sad Girl Chorus syndrome, where the choruses contain some of the laziest lyrics in Lana's history. Even one of my favourite tracks on the album, Salvatore, has some odd lyrics that are overly quirky ("soft ice cream", "cacciatore" anyone?) that I know a lot of people have been frustrated by. 24 is perhaps the biggest lyrical disappointment on the album.

Overall, it's a lovely album that I really do admire, but I feel like it's even more of a mood record than Ultraviolence. It's a record I'm sure I'll put on to calm myself down or when I'm feeling relaxed, but it's not an album you can play whenever, if that makes sense. Still really appreciate that Lana is putting out new material so quickly and very beautiful music as well, but I can't deny the fact that in some ways, Lana did get worse this era.

So after listening to Honeymoon over the last days I have to say that it's absolutely amazing ! My first listening impression was that the tempo was extremely slow but now I kinda get the mood and it doesn't seem that slow to me anymore since I noticed all the amazing instruments and voices that pop out of nowhere in each song.

Does anybody agree that Lana choose some of the weakest tracks for (promotional) singles ? Don't get me wrong, I really like Honeymoon but in comparison to other tracks that are even longer it just drags on. Terrence Loves You is so delicate and emotional and beautiful but lyric- and production-wise there are definitely better songs on the album. High By The Beach is a stand out track but in a negative way. Imo you can hear that it was written and produced to be a single because it doesn't really fit into the album. The only exception is Music To Watch Boys To which is a musical masterpiece (gimme that high production video Lana  )
I can't decide which songs I like the most since they are all heaven
