Lana Del Rey albums as seasons and times of day
Ultra Violet replied to Venice Jesus Whore's topic in Lana Thoughts
It's always the full albums for me too. BTD: summer Paradise: autumn Ultravilence: winter Honeymoon: spring It's so good that they're all in order like that in my mind. LFL: spring NFR: autumn or early winter (I really just see it as clear skies and winter where I live has the clearest skies) CotCC: summer Bb: honestly not sure, any of them except winter AKA: summer -
Sweet! Do you mind me asking if sonically the album is a predictable progression from k-12/after school, or is it something new?
-
So I actually haven't heard anything new. How's it sound? Thoughts?

Wow 2 years since the post before this! Thanks for the update! I really hope it's for that. -
Dayglo Reflection [Bobby Womack feat. Lana Del Rey]
Ultra Violet replied to Sitar's topic in Non-Album Content
A career highlight -
Is anyone else kinda over her? I haven't listened to her in Iike 6 months, and haven't even revisited CB in over a year. Even the thought of more music coming doesn't particularly interest me. Maybe it's time I saw myself out of her fanbase

Mad! It's like the cursed video from The Ring.
-
I kinda agree that the rest of the album is sorta "meh". It's hits with the lyrics, but it's not something I'd really feel like playing. I'm glad she got it out though. The 'singles' were definitely a good choice. I hope she does something more with Everybody Else. I can totally hear that song as the opening title to some creepy dark TV show. (Edit: I only just saw it got a music video oh!)

Wow the album is powerful, and clearly extremely important to her. Everybody Else became my favourite as soon as I heard the opening. I'm a sucker for creepy music box sounds. I think that one and Suffer and Swallow are my top 2, and maybe Fair Game as my top 3 because its lyrics... I just can't. I need this album to be everything it's supposed to be for Alice. (For some reason this paragraph is stuck in the spoiler below and I can't get it out)

These are only short, but very good. She does Rides bridge well. (I think there's a thread of this already, but can't find it. It goes a while back)

Finally listening to it! This album reminds me a lot of old FKA Twigs in 2013/2014, which is so nice. This album is heavier hitting to me, especially with that nostalgia factor. It also sounds so mysterious. Eyes is my favourite. It reminds me of a really creepy version of a Disney song or something. Perfection.

For anyone who has never been sure of Halfaxa, you need to get into the vibe of Dream Fortress, World <3 Princess, River, My Sister Says the Saddest Things, Swan Song, and Heartbeats. Others too, but these are the songs that start off nicer, as the other ones may confuse your ears to begin with... before they get really good. I think the reason I always tie this one as first with Visions, is because I used to listen to the album on long train rides where I could zone out, and also while drawing and painting. I always think it's her most creative and most mood-setting album. The songs aren't songs, they're atmospheres.

Aww I missed Visions 10th anniversary! I discovered it in early 2013 so I never remembered the actually date, but I never thought it was younger than BTD!? Circumambient, Be a Body, Genesis, Oblivion and Skin (this one would calm me down before I slept) and Eight were always my favourites. Circumambient is still on constant play <3 I'll always see that song as her best

Personally Halfaxa > Visions > Miss Anthropocene > Art Angels = Geidi Primes > Darkbloom (still such a cool album) > whatever the hell is coming next And this was her best live era (visions era). I will not be taking alternative suggestions.

Angel and Heartbeats are in my top 5 Grimes songs. Ambrosia is also a perfect example of how ~strange and unusual~ her music used to be

Here's something for us to reminisce over I started tumblr at the same time as discovering BTD and I saved so many fan edits of Lana on my ipod touch, my gallery was like my own little stan blog. I remember these ones were my faves

Happy 10th BTD!!! Although it's still another 9 or so months until I discovered you 10 years ago! It was such a beautiful time. I remember listening to SS, BTD and Carmen on repeat on the bus to school. It was like I was discovering a new "me" through her music. Since SS was the first song I found, it's crazy to think that it could have gone so different! But im sure I would have been just as obsessed as soon as i clicked on the Born To Die video.

Shinigami eyes is just underwhelming club music to me. I don't wanna be a bummer, but I was listening to Heartbeats and the whole Halfaxa album today and I suddenly got a bit sad that her sound isn't that unique anymore! I still can't wait to get into her upcoming albums but she's a different artist now, that's all.

Caption : getting ready I hate doing my own makeup Lana is considering hiring another makeup artist so she can return to the looks from the BTD era for its 10th anniversary

Lana's Sassy Replies (Appreciation Thread)
Ultra Violet replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Lana Thoughts
This is the one I always think of. I didn't realise there was a "Shut Uup!" Before it "Can you be careful of the girls, be careful of the girls, pleaase" she's so nice, why is that one so funny -
I sing this anyway
-
I didn't take it seriously but what i still heard was: "It's beautiful, Palestine. Normality settles down over me." I'd sing it every time even tho I knew I had it wrong. Then recently I was just listening with different headphones and I heard it properly and was like what is wrong with me? The real lyrics are so beautiful, truly.

Blue Banisters - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
Ultra Violet replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
I agree, but I still listen to Textbook for the second verse. It's my favourite part. It reminds me of a dark Nancy Sinatra
