  1. Same I think the shoes are fine but the GLOVES.As I said, octopus tentacles I know there is an actual phobia of bumps and holes and I really feel terrible for anyone who has that phobia and had to see these

If it helps them grow and understand themselves then yes, people really do take it this seriously

Some more thoughts... I think this EP can tie in with the Crybaby story. At the end of K-12 I think her friends went through the portal, deciding to finish their physical life and physical/emotional pain and move on already, but Crybaby decided to stay and finish the full experience of growth from pain. Then I think this EP is her further growth after K-12 while still physically here.

To add to this, the duality of Taurus vs. Scorpio is because those are opposite signs on the astrological wheel. She has Taurus Sun, Moon and Mercury so all the core of her personality is Taurus (stable, nurturing, she has a lot of dignity and knows her self worth). The centre of her personality, as well as the way she thinks and feels, is all 100% Taurus. But she has a Scorpio Rising so they way people see her and first perceive her is almost the complete opposite of who she is, and obviously that really gets to her. People may think she's bitter or cold and reserved. She might come off as trying to be untouchable and secretive when she actually wants to share her warmth and love to those who are ready to receive it. I have definitely fallen under the Scorpio Rising trap so Field Trip kinda slaps me into awareness of what she's really trying to do and who she really is, away from my expectations of her. She actually doesn't have a triple Scorpio placement in real terms (edit: I guess that's why she didn't out the capital T on that one). In astrology, terms like that are usually used for only the major planets. She has Rising in Scorpio, and Pluto in Scorpio, but also north node which isnt considered a major planetery body in your chart. Pluto is the generational planet (pluto in Scorpio is millennials) and North Node is like a 'life path', so she feels her life is directed towards becoming more mystical and spiritual by tapping into her darkness. Again, not major but they're clearly important to her so she must think about her life path and destiny a lot. The duality of almost being called Katarina, but finally being called Melanie is symbolic to her because it must feel like she can either be the dark or be the light. And even her mother almost couldn't decide for her, but finally being called Melanie meant that she would be deemed closer to the dark by other people because that is the name people call her. The Empress Energy relates to the tarot card "Femininity, beauty, nature, nurturing, abundance" which sounds exactly like Taurus.

So Brain & Heart + Field Trip. Definitely my favourites. Glued and Numbers are also really good. In fact, they're all good songs but I do forget Notebook. I don't blame us for thinking The Bakery was going to be another uninspired track with limited reach, because IT ACTUALLY was about her working at a bakery and wasn't supposed to be some deep metaphor that didn't work out, like almost the entire K-12. I really appreciate her explaining each if them instead of just being like "haha bitches you either get it or you don't xo". Overall I really like how personal this EP is, and it's exactly what I wanted after K-12 was so questionable for many of us.
  6. The Honeymoon UO exclusive cover is hands down my favourite

I really did not see ANY of this coming. So she really did well. She nailed the Astrology references in Field Trip. And it makes lot of sense. I'm sorry Lana but you can't top that. DAMN. She's actually sounding a LOT like Jazmin Bean who she's toured with before??? Or something? Before Jazmin said Mel wasn't really nice to her haha aw. Its good cause Jazmin has been filling that void for me, as I'd hoped Mel was coming in this kind of direction. It's a shame they didn't become friends.

I love Brain & Heart so much omg. Some parts sound too much like Piggyback lmao, but it's so sad yet sounds so lovely. It makes me feel so lonely. I'm a fucking sucker for that shit. I think this could make it into my top Melanie songs and I really have no explanation why. Her vocals sound really different in many places of these tracks. I really like it. It sounds more raw and natural to her tbh, even if I'll always want to sing the CB tracks more.

The way we thought the music video was gonna be a homemade lockdown cheap-out
  11. Lana use your voice this well in your own songs again challenge
  12. I'm pretty sure (from what I've seen since then), everyone is comfortable using the word vagina right? Like, I saw a post this morning that started with "people with vaginas".... And then talked about how important it is to get birth control before the elections. I was all FOR that. I think addressing with inclusivity is important. Changing the word is not important. But then again, I am not trans, and I'd appreciate anyone else correcting me if needed!

The bakery sounds nice in the vocals cause I'm all for layering but the production in this snippet sounds like it could be from any artist these days. Literally any female pop or hip hop artist. I'm okay with the aesthetic, even though not much is happening, it's still a mood. Lyrics are kinda eh tho. And I doubt the whole thing will be tied up well.

Show & tell definitely beats, but Highschool Sweethearts has my favourite sound effects moments with the school bell ringing before "go home", and then the door opening and closing. It just goes so well, even with the music video. I also really love the chalkboard writing sound at the beginning. It would have been cool if that actually appeared in the music video like how Lana wrote Lust For Life on the chalk board in the album trailer.
  16. You raised some points!! I actually am kinda shook. I personally don't think it's because her values have changed that much (she still very much stands behind her love for "strong physical relationships") but I think she would now just be too scared to provoke any anti-feminist comments, since it's clear she's at least trying to be more pro-women. Or do you think she has less interest showing her sexuality these days? Anyway, it doesn't bother me, but it definitely grabbed my attention back in 2012
  17. I think my ticket for LA to the moon in Australia was $120 at least ($88 US?). And this was general admission, all tickets that price. I thought it was pretty expensive because other artists at the same venue (Florence, Halsey who are both arguably bigger artists than her) were far less. I don't remember spending more than $80 on those, more like $70. And I definitely agree with BlueInk. The pricing is really strange for what we get nowadays.

I'm buying the shit out of this. Also her answer what's your favourite sandwich is me af: "Poppy: Veggies, no dairy, no bread. Add pesto, vegan mayo, jalapenos, green + red peppers, black beans. Do NOT let onions anywhere near my sandwich."

Anyone else getting nostalgic about the K-12 release now that it's been a year? It's taken me a while year to appreciate this album fully. I've been trying to make outifts of K-12 on animal crossing new horizons. Some people have done the uniform already which is great, but the others are so complex, I've been failing. However, I've managed to do Carousel and the first dress in Mad Hatter.

I'm so glad the K-12 instrumentals came through. I can hear the art of it, hear the vintage toy sounds she went on about that I couldn't hear through the vocals. All except Nurses office (which makes me physically sick from the coughing) hold up very well and have more complexity than I originally thought. Sometimes it does sound like lounge or elevator music, like Lunchbox friends, but I can get around it as some sort of lofi haha. So I think my problem with the album remains with the lyrics mostly.
  21. It's probably a good thing that we can never find two users with the exact same opinions because that means Lana's music is always making someone happy right?
  22. Definitely not haha but I do appreciate the vocals in the chorus compared to the rest of nfr. That's the only reason I ever listen.
  23. Love this idea! BTD- I never really got into video games and only liked it cause the piano was easy to learn Paradise- I always skip Body Electric unless I'm listening to Paradise as a full album on purpose. Tasteless, I know. Ultraviolence- florida kilos is her second worst released song after coachella Honeymoon- Freak is perfect Lust for Life- Groupie Love is such a nice song and everything about it is so Lana NFR- should have had more than one producer
  24. I've said this multiple times. I've always loved Guns and Roses, but I definitely admit it's not in the right place in her discography. Though, it is a nice track between the Ultraviolence era and the soothing trippy vibes in some Honeymoon songs like HBTB, Freak and MTWBT. Flipside and Is This Happiness (ESPECIALLY ITH) belonged on UV. Is This Happiness is so softly violent, it's perfect for the album and even nicer and more beautiful than Old Money. It actually would have made a beautiful wrap-up after The Other Woman, closing the album with the themes of violence and loneliness explored from every angle. Production-wise, sometimes I think the NFR songs were trying to aim for what ITH had, with the piano ballards and the vintage sound (what even is that sound? Organs? Muted strings? Sorta what HIAB and HTD had in them). ITH feels so quiet but it has such beauty in it that it doesn't need to be anything more.
