Ultra Violet liked a post in a topic by bunoner in Melanie Martinez
Okay so I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade (including my own) but I was thinking about this just now and essentially I'm just wondering. Where do we go from here?
I mean. everything was fine when she released her debut and introduced the concept of the Cry Baby character. After that she could have went to any direction but she chose to continue and expand on the project she had already established. I'm not gonna complain since K-12 is a really nice album but I'm really torn right now. On one hand, if she makes more Cry Baby music it's gonna feel like she's dragging it out way too much, but on the OTHER hand I'd feel really weird to see anything by Melanie that isn't the Cry Baby concept and I think it'd be out of place in her discography for me personally.
What do you guys think?

I LOVED THE MOVIE. Some parts were really underwhelming though Still, she did a fantastic job and I'm so proud of her. Now we just need fire drill in HQ....

Wow Buzzcut Season just came up on Spotify reccommended and I actually love it and it's the first Lorde song I've ever listened to without hearing it on the radio etc.
Can anyone kindly reccommend me more good songs. I like the dark stuff or songs that just have a really pretty sound and good production

Imagine a cover of Phil Collins 'In The Air Tonight' on this album.
She could make that song sound hot and seductive and make me cry and scream at the same time.
And the production in that song is not too far from what more I'd expect from her

Ok, let me start lol
Best song: Nurse's Office
Best "music video": Drama Club
Favourite moment/s in the movie: The whole scene/musical number of Orange Juice
What you found most surprising: The ending!
Any criticisms: Overall it's a beautiful and well put film, I'm very surprised by the quality on her directorial debut. My main criticism is that that are a few things that are not really explained on the movie like the whole "superpower" thing and what happened to Kelly. And some musical numbers that don't really make sense to the storyline, being Show & Tell and High School Sweetheart. I with they were incorporated in the movie nicely like the other songs, both give "cut to be a music video" vibe.
Which song you relate to most: Honestly, Fire Drill. Really hope we get that song officially on some version of the album.

Best song: imo Orange Juice (Nurse's Office right after)
Best "music video": High School Sweethearts (literally every video is perfect but this one is heavenly)
Favourite moment/s in the movie: nurse's office + orange juice
What you found most surprising: Teacher's Pet lyrics
Anything you predicted coming true: no
Any criticisms: it ends with "to be continued" vibes so we are getting a new crybaby era for sure
Which song you relate to most: Show & Tell

I'm also gonna add- I kept thinking "I would have loved this so much as a kid" even though obviously I do now, but I get it. She's aiming to make an impact on her fanbase which are probably mostly still in highschool, so I congratulate her for that.
It will do its job, plus has given us another amazing album full of visuals

I know this is so extra but I'd love to see everyone's opinions answering these after seeing the movie and listening to the songs. I love reading people's thoughts, but preferably in a logical format cause I'm a virgo fucking rising :

She doesn't even acknowledge WHF related questions during Instagram livestreams. Maybe the name dropping of this album was a prank by our random sis? Lana troll.jpg

Omg it's so cute. And my friend loved it too. There was a cute pop up outside the cinema with pink balloons where you could buy fairy floss and get a photo with a cutout of the bus in front of a pastel flower wall.
I think Show and Tell, Highschool Sweethearts and even Orange Juice have the best single potential as their videos don't require context. . Especially show and tell. Have to say I enjoyed that one the most.
I think I'll definitely prefer listening to the songs on their own but I'll definitely be rewatching the movie again.
The ending was a little dissatisfying but I guess I kinda prefer it to the "everyone ends up happy and making up in the end"
My least favorite was Recess though, and I think that made me less connected to the ending.

Who's dressing up for the movie tonight?
I get to see it in 2.5 hours fuckkk
The excitement just hits me the closer it gets. This is the most significant music event I've been to since seeing Evanescence Synthesis in Feb last year. And no Lana's LA to the Moon tour didn't compare to that
FYI, y'all have no choice but to marathon Cry Baby before you go any further
