i think people need to understand that this isn’t a standalone incident. this has been an ongoing issue for hundreds of years. in recent events take sandra bland as an example, philando castile, alton sterling. if sean didn’t speak out then he won’t speak out now. if you search his @ on twitter with blacklivesmatter nothing comes up, but if you search his @ on twitter with bluelivesmatter, tweets will come up. but anyways i don’t really care for a cop’s opinion on this matter, all i know is that he’s probably in support of the cops and that’s that.also on the suing topic- i recently found out it’s near impossible to successfully sue a cop in the USA. this video explains a lot

i get your sentiment, but i'm afraid it's based on a fundamental misunderstand of what cops as an entire class are. they're the enforcers of state-sanctioned violence/oppression and their unchecked power is based on a collective and individual refusal to acknowledge their own wrongdoings. policemen who try to speak up are usually silenced one way or another and, much like the military, they're trained to show solidarity to their own above all else. it's what ACAB as an ideology stems from. i'd be surprised - and i mean VERY surprised - if he did speak up.

lots of social change start with violent riots, the suffragettes, stonewall, boston tea party. i feel for small business owners caught in the crossfire, hopefully they can get their money from insurance and rebuild

this has been a nightmare for everyone, but ultimately, at some point action must be taken. these people have been trying it the non-violent way for decades now, and it’s gotten them nowhere

when you have a platform, you have the moral obligation to speak out and point out when obvious injustices like this occur (especially if your fandom is majority white and lost in their own world like lana’s is, she could be raising awareness in a group of people that a lot of other pop stars can’t reach)

if she were a politician i wouldn't be expecting anything, i would be demanding it: a clear statement & immediate action, to be precise. that's absolutely not what anyone's expecting from lana.

let's not pretend like we, who regularly frequent lb, don't care more abt lana than on a strictly musical basis. after all, i've never spent my time on any other artist's message board reading abt how their music relates to their presumed relationships, so i'm obviously not checking or care whether those other artists posted abt this issue or not. i care in lana's case, which is why i'm here. if you don't care abt her stance on fundamental issues, that's your prerogative, but don't act like that's where the rest of us should draw the line.

why talk about black reparations in the video or even make a post about how not racist you are when you're not even going to speak up about racial injustices?
    she unfollowed sky ferreira too

Yeah i've definitely changed my mind about that. She should really post something if she actually cares about 'black reparations'

if you have time to talk about how un-racist you are or have the time to make a video about the criticism you get and talk about black reparations in that video, then you have time to talk about injustices against black people. prove you want reparations for black people when they're still targets of the government.
lana's getting hate either way, it doesn't matter! use your platform for good.

come off of it yall, why are some of you blindly defending this? you're not getting paid

does anyone else prefer this new version of babylon? that vocal loop in the old one was so jarring to me

Also don’t really understand where she was coming from with the trump supporters part considering Ben shapiro was just today talking about how he’s on lana’s side on his radio show, but that’s a topic for another conversation...

She should post this video on her twitter, not enough people know about this

Powerful speech but many very relevant things true till now.

if she's all about the intentions as she says she is, and she felt compelled to speak about the disgusting racial issues plaguing America, she would post regardless of what the backlash would be. I wonder what her defense could POSSIBLY be... it doesn't fit in her aesthetic or sumn...

Of course I don’t know what she’s doing or not doing. If she has donated or signed a petition, great. But I don’t think it would hurt to let her fans know that she has done something to help the BLM movement, the worst thing that could happen would be that people wouldn’t believe her after last week, but honestly, that shouldn’t bother her if she knows she’s done something to help.
Like others pointed out already, she can take time to make multiple posts explaining her “question for the culture” message, promote stores and send DMs to Instagram moms... Why can’t she take a minute to, say, I don’t know, post a BLM picture and a link to petitions or donations in the caption? It’s the least she can do.
