  1. I think she only described UV after she announced, right? I don't remember any particular interview she did with any insight of the truly sound of the album. While HM there are some interesting thoughts she said so far: " I’m still looking for something different, with majestic choruses, beautiful orchestrations, a type of 50s vibe with a bit of soft grunge. Since march, I’ve been writing a lot of new songs, in a more conventional way -the verses, then the refrain, with a strong jazzy influence." "I’m currently trying to do some new things. It’s a bit surrealist, full of colors. I feel much more inspired by people like Mark Ryden, Fellini or Picasso…" " I feel that the three records were so heavy and autobiographical. It’s been so cathartic. I like to use my previous work as a jump-off point to do something new." It doesn't sound like a filler record. She seems inspired this time xD
  2. I don't know what interview you've read but in this one he mentioned Lana with other big acts " We have Tame Impala coming this summer, and Lana Del Rey coming this year.(...) So we have a good mix of developing acts and big acts coming back." http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=296326 * for @: the rest of this post isn't a reply to you directly. ---- I see a lot of talking about Interscope role's as responsible by the underwhelmed performance of UV. They scheduled Lana on tv but she cancelled. Polydor scheduled BBC, promo concerts on France ( one of her biggest market) and she cancelled. Then she did interviews about death and fucking her way up to the top and feminist shit. Let's be real: she is the one to blame for. If we consider her label's POV they had eveything they wished for to promote Lana: a critical acclaimed album, her biggest debut yet, she was the #5 best-seller artist of 2014: This all happened in the early schedule of UV release and this is probably just a tiny part of the whole plan, which means in a long run this album could have done so much better. After that they tried to release Brooklyn Baby and Black Beauty to try to get some money but you all know what happened. She is the one who abandoned her project ( Dec.19 Grazia Interview: "I’m afraid this album will be forgotten(... ) My new album will come out after ( tour), maybe for late-august". Maybe she has her reasons and I'm sure her life was also a mess at the time but if Interscope decide to not promote HM fairly I won't even complain because as a label they have a point on what should they invest their money (But this won't happen, she is a big act for them after all).
  3. Why some news account are saying her first single is called Warhol Rapture?
  4. It seems people on front were enjoying the show and people who couldn't hear anyhting went to watch The Black Keys. It sucks because a lot of casual listeners are"dissapointed" with her performance ( even tho isn't her fault at all). I expect some shit music blog will make a post about how she sucks live and all, but she can survive it.
  5. you're the one to blame, I wasn't even excited about it but now I can't stop thinking she'll premier a new song today lol...
  6. These examples are true but they don't really apply to this context. I'm talking about a premier of a new song and this usually takes planning from her team, it's not really a question if she is in the mood of singing some songs or not.
  7. She has to premier during the tour since her band already know how to play HM songs. Her tour is almost finished so it's really a question of time
  8. You should record a new podcast discussing her albums ( from AKA to UV). It would be great because we don't have many podcast with people who actually know anything about Lana other than what media portrays..
  9. She's releasing a new album 1 year after the latest one, she's on tour and she already shot 2 videos. How is she being lazy?
  10. I was reading the op again and she said the lyrics would be "full of colors", right? Well, she meant literally........"dark blue, dark blue"
  11. Isn't she essentially an "Internet" artist? The level of fame she achieved it wasn't because of interscope promo - actually whenever they put her on tv, interviews and so on only prejudiced her career so far. I'm not saying that promo isn't important but I completely disagree that's what will maintain Lana a relevant name. What will define if she wants to continue as a major pop name is if her music is accessible enough for the public or not. UV wasn't a pop album capable of attract the attention of general public, she knew it ( and that's what she wanted after all), her label knew it and they didn't spend as much ( they even complained about the lack of singles). In the end is all about the music, if she decides to continue follow an even more alternative/experimental route that may not appeal to everyone not even endless promos on national tv can help her. I know I'd love it but commercially it wouldn't be as successful. Or she could follow her fellows on interscope and be like Maroon 5 - trying to be relevant and releasing the same shit over and over and everytime worse than before. For now I think she is doing pretty well and I'm not sure why some of you think Interscope could drop her... I mean she is 1# most popular female artist on spotify without radio plays and she is on her biggest tour yet. This is very unusual for an artist that basically is only doing online promo ( and she doesn't even do this right ).
  12. I guess this might be true when it comes to high budget videos but for songs I don’t think is necessarily true. Even an A-list songwriter like Nowels works with a lot of indie acts (Lykke Li worked with him on her last two albums and she doesn't have the same success as Lana for example). Emile confirmed when he started recording with Lana he didn't even had a budget. So even if she goes totally independent It’s totally possible for her to continue releasing good music
  13. I should have learned by now "trust no one" ( including Lana) but I can't help to feel really excited about a September release.
  14. I love how she describes her music. Hollywood sadcore is perfect for BTD, for example. Springsteen in Miami is also really interesting. AKA she wanted to sound like " a sad party" which really captures the sound of the album for me. Ultraviolence description of "too dark" is also on point. That record is full of raw emotions and really, really depressing. Her other albums had some songs to balance but UV goes deeper in her darkest feelings and it doesn't offer any kind of hope but only resignation. I can't really listen the whole record everyday because it's a emotional rollercoaster
  15. Futuretro might be retrofuture which is a literature/art genre just like steampunk ( but in this case the future is described as something like the past). That Endless Summer tour stage really fits the whole aesthetic 2 videos already? Her label might be the one postponing the release date since our girl is actually doing her homework
  16. If she did say the song was about a guru she followed who had to " to break people first before he could build them up again" I'm sure she could explain the alcohol metaphor for the press
  17. To be fair Lana has been attacked by feminists for 3 years straight because she wrote a song like Video Games. She's been unfairly criticized before even mentioning anything related to feminism at all so I'm sure she was in defense mode when she answered that question. In her NYT interview she explained better what I think she was trying to say about this whole thing: "If my choice is to, I don’t know, be with a lot of men, or if I enjoy a really physical relationship, I don’t think that’s necessarily being anti-feminist. For me the argument of feminism never really should have come into the picture. Because I don’t know too much about the history of feminism, and so I’m not really a relevant person to bring into the conversation. Everything I was writing was so autobiographical, it could really only be a personal analysis.”
  18. Whenever I read Honeymoon lyrics I think it's a direct continuation of Ultraviolence ( or at least thematically) "We both know the history of violence that surrounds you There are violets in your eyes There are guns that blaze around you There are roses in between my thighs and fire that surrounds you" Hopefully this is the "end" of her sadomasochist story with "Jim"

  20. Yeah, I know. I'm thirsty. But we were sure Ronson was the main producer and then Haynie said he is also involved with Honeymoon...idk There is a possibility they are actually both working together

  22. New Asap Rocky track is produced by both haynie and Mark ronson. http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/8/8573495/asap-rocky-everyday-rod-stewart-miguel-mark-ronson They might work together on Honeymoon too...
  23. Hopefully Honeymoon is just a mid-tempo jazz ballad with an amazing vocal performance because those lyrics are terrible.
