She looked straight out of 2011 - the hair and dress brought me back to Born to Die 🩵. I hope she keeps that colour for a while! The sound engineering definitely was a shame, though - and everytime she sang a high note, the mic distorted it, so she seemed to shy away from belting in her upper range after that. Hopefully these bugs can be worked out for weekend 2 (and the first show nerves are out of the way!)

I have no idea what to expect in terms of setlist, but I feel like she has to add West Coast and do some version of Coachella - Woodstock in My Mind since this is her first real show in California since October 2019. I could see her maybe doing Let the Light In or Margaret since they’ve had their moments online since the end of her fall tour. And hoping for a new song from Lasso if there’s gonna be a horse 🐎🤞🤍

I see the Lana influence in these titles and I love it - it’s so great to see her impact everywhere and have more people be open about how she’s inspired their work. Didn’t Billie post a photo from the Blue Jeans video to her story just recently? That with the titles and underwater album cover really makes me Lana was the main source of inspiration for this. Would be cool if she’s involved somehow!

I just got into her music (I know I’m late!) and I love her.

I think she saw how people were connecting her to “coquette” and just leaned all the way into it this past year. And why wouldn’t she? It has now become a fun celebration of femininity - which is something she had been criticized for her entire career. So, in a way, it’s an act of reclamation for her to embrace it. And I love that 🎀 🦢

I listen to this album every morning on my drive to work and I love that it’s become a part of my days in that way. It’s just full of soul and character and bears a full breadth of emotions.

This song could potentially have more history to it than we know. Beautiful People was the title of a Jay Sebring (hairstylist and friend/former partner of Sharon Tate) biopic to be directed by James Franco. News of this broke in January 2013, and it’s funny that Lana was in talks to play Sharon in a project by an unknown director (though we can infer it was James Franco). Perhaps when Lana and James first connected in the summer of 2014, he brought this up and she wrote the first demo of “Beautiful People” (which we know was recorded in late July 2014). I wonder if she got inspiration for the title of this song from this movie that never materialized… Charting its evolution between 2014 and 2017 is really one of the most beautiful things to have witnessed in the larger LDR lyrical arc.

Dolly Parton's original version of "I Will Always Love You" feels like something Lana would create, sonically and melodically speaking – so I feel like a rustic, Americana, guitar-driven (acoustic and steel pedal) sound is imminent. Maybe something like a stripped-down Ultraviolence or a labouring on the sounds explored on Chemtrails. "Henry, Come On" reminded me so much of some 2013 material (particularly Chelsea Hotel No. 2, Nectar of the Gods, Unidentified Flying Bill)
