Why lorde is in every fucking category? And why lorde could be an international act and lana not?

this cover is so interesting, the girl has a more interesting voice than the other guy but it's nice to know that the additional vocals can enhance the song

nevertheless i think the critics didn't get the song and judged it wrongly, the camp moments aren't awkward per se they are made so purposefully to mirror the discomfort to the people, even among the industry, who suddenly abandoned her (this reminds me of the tongue in cheek i've been raised from the dead, from Radio which was oddly fitting because the BTD promo didn't go as expected, that taylor almost seem to quote at 0:49)

i don't like songs that are about someone and i don't like the direct revenge theme in pop and this includes the two but taylor has the right to come against those who made her look bad after all, she was never the horrible person they made her look like altho i wish she could just do her thing but i know there's this current cycle of events that mostly public women face of being 'criticised unfairly-to coming back to people's graces with others congratulating themselves for accepting taylor again-and people falling out of love once more because they always knew she was a snake deep down'  people
i'm only disappointed that pettiness and moral superiority seem to be a recurring theme of taylor's, even if it's a bit unfair to judge her. i'm afraid labels stick that's why i don't like songs that are a blatant response to negativity

For like the first few hours after the release, I felt almost bad for her seeing how many people didn't seem to like her new song and I kind of wondered if she had just fucked up. But now, after seeing her name again and again and again, and the 27+ million views just for the audio, and outselling Shake It Off, I see exactly what she was doing. It doesn't really matter whether people like it or not. What matters is that everyone is talking about it, dissecting it--not just the song, but her career trajectory up until this point, her feuds, what/whom the song is directed towards, what the line about the old Taylor being dead means for her future in music/her persona, the rise and fall of celebrity, her upcoming album and video. And of course she has said almost nothing about any of this, which means all people can do is speculate.
The song itself is a good bop, but there are some kind of campy elements (she's dead!!) that are intentional. She's giving people what they want, which is to root for her failure and to make fun of her latest offering. So as they keep making fun and posting on social media, all that's doing is giving her that much more publicity, and with that more views/streams/buys.
More than likely, a lot of this era will be more silent than her normal ones. She won't be all over every TV in America and abroad on every show and magazine. I bet we will see more things like this--where she gives the public just enough to feed off of without ever having to go to an interview and confirm or deny or deflect anything.
She knows exactly what she's doing.

    Love understanding fans

She has a video behind her with a white car, a bit like a pick up truck. I really don't know my cars very well so I could be completely wrong but I'm pretty sure its not a white mustang. It could be from the video, it seems very Lana aesthetic and fits the song quite well. Maybe that will just be the video, a white car travelling through the countryside for 2 and half minutes

i have to take back what i said about still not being sure about the album, listened to it looking at ducks with my legs suspended in mid-air: it was awesome. music to brood over nature to. yeah i'm gonna sound corny but it really is a good soundtrack for life, it captured the zeitgeist of my post 2016 moodiness can't wait for more time to pass

Even though we all heard Serial Killer a billion times, I'd like her to put that song on the potential unreleased album. I think it also deserves a high budget music video.

Because so much of the material is excellent and only a small portion of her fans have heard most it. It deserves to be out there in HQ for the masses to find it, not streamed on youtube.

With so many of these songs already made, I imagine not all would need too much altering, though I'm sure a few will be changed up.

If she releases this, the label doesn't really need to pay for that much surely. Some song release rights and studio time at the most would be where costs lie, I mean, didn't Lana say she built a studio in her house in L.A?.....I think. Either way, she is well connected with producers/musicians, surely she can pull a few strings to get this project off the ground at a small cost.
I doubt this will be pushed as a major release, so its not like there will be all this money invested in promotion. Plus shes not a mega seller anyway, not since UV, so its not like the studio need her to make up huge cost amounts, especially while shes touring all the time and generating returns for the label with that.

She has a decent sized  fanbase, the label wont forget her #1 LFL debut, that gives her a lot of credit, even if final numbers aren't massive, they aren't massive for most people, she still proves she has an audience. I doubt they'd mind handing over some money for a small release like this, shes not a huge costly type of artist for them compared to other acts.

Heroin has to have a music video. If it doesn't then I'll be kinda pissed lol

Although I'd love another space themed video for Heroin, I don't think we'll get one... I'm hoping for a video for Cherry in the future though. It'd be sad if we only got 3 music videos out of an album with sixteen songs.

i'm sure no one is saying it's easy but it's her job, if she decides to do live shows her performances need to be nice or at least she should try to make them so. many of her fans are young and probably depend on their parents, not everyone will have the opportunity to see her more than once so she should honour that and make it memorable. the conditions during her lives can be improved, and it's not that unbearable other artists do it too

i just want lana to be the best she can be

I love Change, I honestly started sobbing uncontrollably during it on Tuesday
Think it's bc it sounds somewhat hopeful but deep down Lana feels pessimistic and knows there might never be change

(Or that's just me seeing as I'm a pessimist)

I like the alternative version to summer bummer, especially because of the additional vocals and humming but i miss the "it's never too late to ..." verse

from the officially released: American, because of the theme :DDD it took me 2 years before listening to it even tho i had the album    and the tune isn't that interesting, sounds too generic. still not a bad song

ok so i have a theory about heroin - since it uses the word aeroplane a lot i made the connection between the song and aviation off of sirens. Aviation was written while she was staying with her uncle and learning to play guitar so it's about her breaking away from her parents and wanting to become Lizzy Grant (i think) and it also mentions her getting high. So going back to Heroin, I think it's symbolic of Lana putting "elizabeth grant" and "lizzy" and "may" on an aeroplane to be forgotten. So it's her transition into the lana we know now who lives in california (topanga as heard in the song) and all her friends also go on the plane to california and leave their lives behind. "i'll probably stay another year" is her not wanting to completely let go of lizzy because she doesn't want to lose herself completely - "bad beginning to my new year" was the whole snl drama. finally her perspective changes and she's the one leaving in the plane and she's saying hopefully she'll be successful the next time she sees her dad. kind of a stretch but it's 2 am and i can't sleep lol
