Out with a Bang Pt. 2, tbh

I wanted to give Honeymoon the best first listen possible. So last night I dragged out my old receiver, my grandparents' CD player, and my brand-spanking-new bass-boosting headphones. First of all, OWWWWWIE!!!!! Then I took the advice of @@DeadAgainst and proceeded to turn the bass all the way down and the treble up to 75%. (Something I have never done before in my life, I might add.) Then I stuffed some tissues into my headphones for good measure. Okay, NGL. I am here for the ear candy, and Honeymoon fails to deliver a single trippy bop. The disappointment is real. BUT. I put in the time to soak it up, and it truly was a beautiful listening experience. Her vocals are top-notch. And I'm satisfied that she has made the album she wanted to. Bottom line, I'm going to give Honeymoon the chance to be a grower. So with those qualifications ...no way am I going to assign number ratings yet. My rankings so far: 1. Music to Watch Boys To 2. Terrence Loves You 3. Art Deco (I will regret my NEON GOLD fan art for the rest of my life ) 4. Freak 5. 24 6. High by the Beach 7. The Blackest Day 8. Honeymoon 9. Religion 10. Salvatore 11. God Knows I Tried 12. Swan Song 13. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood ...not including the Burnt Norton interlude, which I love. BTW, now I am listening on my computer with just-decent headphones (the way I usually give my first listens these days). And IMO the equalization is perfection.

I love James Dean's remix of Heavy Hitter, and can vouch for him that he's competent to do this mix of Jealous Girl. Also, I don't hear any new Lana vocals in this edit -- just the same ones duplicated. I'm more than inclined to believe him

Well, the "clean" version of Radio has one f-bomb... so... whatevs.

I ran across someone speculating that Terrence is a reference to David Bowie's deceased older brother Terry Burns. I went looking for something more solid and forgot where I saw the first mention. #lanalysisfail EDIT: I guess it was one of the earlier comments for the video on YouTube.

Loving the albums. Not sure how I feel about the B-sides ... AKA B-sides seems to be stealing from South Beach Swing. But there's enough material for two, so I'm okay with it ...To make a BTD B-sides meaningful I really think you need to either raid the unreleased albums or combine it with Paradise B-sides. Agree on including Ridin' and Spender. I could see Chelsea Hotel on UV B-sides.

Thanks! Poetry for Dummies FTW! It actually reminds me of a screenplay I wrote years ago in which I explored the Freewill vs. Destiny debate. Too bad it was a lame timecop story Of course it's triggering for me all sorts of MBTI and cognitive functions analysis too. Sensors like Eliot and LDR have much to teach us about the "first world." (Of course, as an Intuitive I would counter that for me, inside-my-head IS the "first world" ...although I do tend to be inside-my-head in-the-present ...it's complicated ...caffeine is awesome.)

At the beginning of my video for Chelsea Hotel, Lana is crouching down to pick something up, then she tosses something a couple of feet forward onto the stage. I can't see what it is, though. :/

I'll try to review it tonight and see if I see anything. I remember people throwing stuff towards the end but I don't remember seeing a CD. That's awesome, though!

Yeah, she seemed very bothered by the sound. Honestly she and the band both sounded great where I was (section 101), but I guess I'm no audio expert. I was happy with my view in person -- no one immediately in front of me because the TALL guy moved down after Grimes - it's only my pics and video that look like I was a mile away
