blackenedrussianpoetry liked a post in a topic by Summersault in Lana looking high in some interviews...?
One can not discuss this topic without mentioning the infamous babysitting interview:
http://www.mtv.com/videos/interview/lana-del-rey/727775/lana-del-rey-is-still-babysitting.jhtml#id=1652658
She just seems so...off through the whole thing and then in the last 5 seconds she flips 180 degrees, like a different person took over her mind or something. The way she says "he's very with it" scares the bejeesus out of me. I often wonder if she was on something during that interview or if she's just odd that way sometimes.

This so adds to the mystique of her claimed teen drinking. I wonder if her talk of "losing her reputation" has something to do with her early days as a preppy, Catholic sweetheart. It must have been the talk of the town if she really got into enough trouble to get sent off to boarding school.
"Have you heard? Rob and Pat's Lizzy was drinking light beer behind the school."
"Oh my, she used to be such a darling with the litter picking and all!"

Oh God, I forgot
Coachella is up there as well. I'll take any of of her mindblowingly corny lyrics over a faux-deep, wanna be political song any day. The corny ones always make me laugh, and somehow she can pull off being over the top like that, which is an art in itself.

A lot of good new ones!
I found this yesterday and I'm in love:
Born to Die, Monsieur Adi remix
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77O6cuIiG24
So chilled out and the new chords are amazing!
(His summertime sadness remix on the other hand is quite..different. Let me just say that there are rapid handclaps. Someone might just start twerking to that sh*t.)

This song was the soundtrack of my summer, I've listened to it so many times and I still can't figure it out. Knew? Threw? Thew?
Also I love how much FJM's writing style suits her. Like this could legit have been a Lana song. They are twin flames who should collab much more than they already do.

I love when her legs do that! As a fellow awkward walker I clench my fist for the ones like us who are oppressed by the figures of normal walking!
Daww, God bless

After 4.5 years of deliberation I've concluded that she's saying "motel speed sprees" as it makes sense both thematically and phonetically.

Re: The underdog angle
My own possibly unpopulary opinion is, that while I strongly agree that the initial backlash wasn't planned and must have been very traumatizing, she lacks self awareness as to how it comes off when she pulls out the "I'm the underdog"-trope again and again years later now that she's litterally a rich, succesful, critically acclaimed celebrity singer who most critics would agree has had significant impact on pop culture. Like...what more do you want girl? A statue? It gets especially aggrevating when she uses it as a shield against any kind of criticism, like when she went on her Insta-rants a few years back.
At the end of the day she is only human. I can't blame her for being stuck on that, I would probably be the same way to be honest. Unlike us, Lana doesn't have the luxury of analyzing her own life from the outside and making coolheaded decisions about how to feel about trauma that happened to her depending on what looks best to the public. We're all the protagonists in our own stories. But I sometimes wish that she had a good PR manager who would tell her to go easy on that angle. But then again she wouldn't be Lana.

Real in this post, that's what I thought
It's true and it marked me the way she had been treated badly by the media (plastic girl, bad at singing, a puppet). I thought she put out a fucking good and conceptual album at the same time, and that's how the media treats her? I was pissed because I was afraid that she would stop her career lol It was really rough.
But I think since the end of the Paradise era, and since the beginning of UV she has gained credibility, and more and more every year. In 2022 she has never been so acclaimed loved and respected. In fact, despite her difficult beginnings, I'm surprised to see how well she succeeded afterwards, in being a reference, in continuing to be relevant. She's handled it pretty well despite not releasing any major albums in a few years. Almost everyone knows her, at least one of its songs. She has prestigious contracts, films, fashion, tours that are very full... In fact she has a really big status in 2022: people no longer shout Lana like the hesitant newbie artist but they shout Lana like they would see Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse, she has become an acclaimed and highly anticipated musical icon with each album.
She had a trauma during this period and that is understandable, but water has flowed under the bridge and today I don't see how she could complain because she has become an artist that many people want. Her beginnings did not slow her down in her musical conquest, and that she can be proud of because it is not the case for everyone.

Didn't she leave her "overproduced" era already, kind of a long time ago, though? COCC, BB and not really NFR are neither cinematic or overproduced. But yup, you're most likely right. My wish is not even more stripped down music only (though, yeah some of her very best tracks are the stripped down ones, indeed) but it is the most realistic thing to happen.

Just a quick conspiracy..
In one of the trailer park scenes she places a bag of frozen veggies on her head.
Could it mean that her guy hit her?
I mean a lot of the scenes from Tropico are similar to the lyrics of Hundred Dollar Bill with Jimmys ultra violent swings, ya dig?
