    Right??

My personal theory is that while The Weeknd and Lanas fanbases do overlap somewhat, when it comes to  the fans that are willing to spend time on a fanforum they vary a lot.
The dedicated Lana fans on here seem to be leaning more towards pop so at least some of The Weeknds music might not be of interest, while the dedicated Weeknd fans I've encountered on a Weeknd forum seem to be leaning more towards hiphop/R'nB and they don't seem all that interested in Lana either.

Still the two collabs alone would justify a little more activity in here I'd say

To me Lanas whole artistic universe has always been about escapism, nostalgia and looking at the world through an aestethic, artistic lens, which is a very beautiful outlook, but highly impractical when searching for political visions.

I don't know how much she is able to "snap out" of that artistic outlook, when it comes to making a political analysis of the world to be honest. Some of her remarks about feminism and politics in general makes me think not so much. I DO think she's liberal, but I have a suspicion that her political outlook is more shaped by her association with and fascination of artsy-hippie type of people that she likes to identify herself with, than a genuine sense of social indignation.

Which is 100% okay with me. I never look to artists for political responses to the world. Lana is a good artist exactly because she has such a strong artistic vision, and if that means she's too busy living in lala-land to care about politics, I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

Her whole "American Dream" theme does seem very inspired by both freedom-loving hippie culture and old-money Republicanism. Not a very consistent political outlook but fabulous entertainment and art. I can live with that.

    This would be a dream!
One can only hope that Lanas career will span many years ahead until she starts doing those kind of concerts, as some older artists do (Leonard Cohen i.e.)

Just tooting my own horn a bit: I made a mix for the holidays with a lot of Weeknd tracks.

My fantasy concert would be an indoor venue with seats. (Reserved and I would have front row) No pit. A pure "concert" for the music where it is about Lana and the band and her beautiful voice. By that I mean not about Lana the OMG it's Lana Del Rey, YASSS Queen, I am going to cry etc. All the fandom and hero worship stuff. (Of which I am a big part) No sing alongs, or phones. Just an opportunity to hear the music. I am not putting the other stuff down as I am a part of that but seeing her live is actually a very draining experience. Like I said it's just a fantasy. Sigh.

i like burnt norton, i think it adds a lot of insight to who she is and why she writes what she does. no one seemed to have a problem with her reciting howl on tropico, but i think the selection of burnt norton she reads is much more genuine than that.

I often get reminded of more or less specific memories of places, atmospheres and sceneries I've experienced in my life, sometimes from so far back that I can't even clearly remember when it happened, it's just imprinted into my mind and get's stirred up when I listen to Lana. I'm not very good at explaining those memories in a meaningful way so I'm just gonna spare you the second hand embarrasment

Two examples of association that are easier to explain for me:

Off To The Races: It always made me think of the movie Lolita (the one directed by Adrian Lyne) even before I knew how much Lana was into that novel.

God Knows I Tried: The first time I listened to it I had a very clear vision of Lana lounging wistfully in a dark room, with the golden sky outside window, listening to records, being sad and all of that, as she describes in the lyrics.

Then she dropped the video for Freak and from 2:05 to around 2:20 that scene is so similar to my vision for GKIT that I was like
It was like she had taken images in my brain and put them into a music video.

But then again, my associations were influenced by her imagery, and maybe it's not that weird that she would use the same type of imagery for two songs on the same album. it was a freaky experience none the less.

This is horrible what's happening there. There's this twitter account of a 7 year old girl who lives in Aleppo and recently she (her mom who manages the account) tweeted "Pray for us. Goodbye" due to the bombings in the area getting worse. She and her family survived but they don't have a house anymore. This account gives a good insight what the people are going through and it's heartbreaking to think how such a young child has to endure these horrors.

Super super important. If you have the funds, please find it in your heart to donate. And if not, please do your best to educate yourself and other about the ongoings in Aleppo as well as what you and others can do to help, otherwise.

the situation is so horrible there and knowing that this is a war between mass murderers vs. mass murderers just makes it worse... pray/donate for the civilians who unfairly pay the worst tribute is all we can do to honore them

Yeah, it's such a complicated civil war, it's hard to keep track of it all.
I completely agree, all we can do is chime in with our voice or a penny.
