This is just a guess, but Queen of Saigon could be a reference to the Vietnam War, when lots of American soldiers were fighting over there. Pin up girls were very popular with soldiers back in the days and Lana might refer to herself as the pin up queen of all the soldiers hearts and fantasies, making her the Queen of Saigon. Just another of her ways of fetishizing herself in line with "Trailer Park Darling" or "Queen of the Gas Station". 
 
But yeah, that title is sort of bugging me too, especially as it's in "National Anthem" so I can't help but think if there's a more political meaning to it.

And @@parkin I just read about 10 articles and the biggest concern was that Disney had to shut down its rides. There was a lot of damage but no fatalities, they just think a bigger quake could occur in the near future that could cause deaths. It's ok. Breath.

I don't get it either. She never confirmed anything. People just get these ideas in their heads and build up insane expectations, then they're mad at Lana and get all dramatic and pissy how they're not waiting anymore (sure sure ), acting as if she owes them something. She will do it her way, shrouded in mystery and all, and calling her a bitch and being whiny won't change that by a single iota. The May 1st thing wasn't even supposed to be a set-in-stone kind of date so it'd be nice if everyone calmed down a bit.

I'm not too sure if this has already been posted, but apparently Billboard said the following about UV:
'We can expect Lana Del Rey's next album to debut very high in sales here on the Billboard 200. We could possibly see a visual album from Lana, or possibly a film entitled Ultraviolence, telling a story of the whole album' and compared Lana to Beyonce in terms of visuals and artistry. The podcast in which they said this all is here.

If Beyoncé didn't come out with an album out of nowhere, you all wouldn't even talk about Lana doing something similar.
 
Beyoncé said more than once that it was a huge risk for her and she was really really really scared but she wanted to do something nobody expected her to do. She has been famous for 17 years now and she had massive success in the past, she's also almost a billionaire, she has proven herself.
 
Lana is famous for 2 and a half years now, especially in North America she isn't a big celebrity, she could lose a lot of money and I don't think Interscope would support her with a Beyoncé-like-release.
 
Sorry but that's my opinion. Of course Lana always says that she doesn't care about sales and fame and all that stuff, but the record label does.

I didn't say anything offensive, I smoked pot multiple times so I have nothing against it and I don't care if someone's an addict, etc. But I agree with lola that some people glamourize marijuana too much and can't stop bragging about their addiction. I'm not talking about you and I don't have a problem with this thread, I just think that it's weird that many people think that weed automatically makes them cooler and they need to share everytime that they're potheads. Oh man, I used to live really close by about 13 years ago.

How long have I been a fan? Since around April or May of 2012. Lana popped up on one of my Pandora stations with OTTR and I've been hooked ever since.
 
Will I ever stop being a fan? No. Will I ever stop being a devoted fan? Yes, eventually. Honestly, when I'm 40 years old and going to work, taking my children to soccer practice and then running home to cook dinner, I'm not going to listen to Lana anymore, at least not nearly as much as I do now. I'll still love her and appreciate everything she's taught me through her music, but I won't be "devoted" to her. Lana has already said that she's said everything she's wanted to say, and although she continues to make music now, she won't forever. I think my obsession will probably fizzle out about a year or two after she "retires" from singing. Still, I know that no matter how far apart I drift from her and this life I've lived built around her, I will always be able to turn her music on and feel a resurgence of those magical, beautiful feelings I felt two years ago. I know that she has already made an impact on me that will last a lifetime.
