So this actually involves a recent interaction I had with twigs so let's go.
She recently postponed her Berlin and Prague shows on the day with no explanation or announcement from her side. The fans especially on her subreddit were extremely upset and there was a lot of uproar and mostly respectful messages of people being hurt and losing respect for her. Apparently this a pattern for her, one person wrote: "She canceled Primavera twice with no notice and no apology. She did the same in Zürich a few years back, literally an hour before the show was supposed to start. And since the Berlin and Prague cancellations, so many fans have come out of the woodwork on this sub, sharing their own experiences of the same thing happening to them."
Finally today, twigs shared an apology and explanation for the cancellations on her accounts: "prague and berlin, i'm deeply sorry for the delay in bringing eusexua to you all. i wanted to make sure this tour was perfect for you all and there were shipping issues with parts of the staging, i was praying it would come on time and i tried everything in my power to make things work, and i assure you the rescheduled shows will be glorious"
Twigs then goes on her Discord server and starts ranting about her subreddit and "parasocial fans" while pretty much circlejerking with the actual parasocial fans in her Discord server (the irony) and playing the victim and getting an ego boost of fans being like "we must protect her at all costs!! f*ck the parasocial fans! twigs is so vulnerable and perfect and amazing" etc.
So how does all this relate to my experience with twigs? As some of you may know, I recently met her at a signing. This little m&g was supposed to start at 3pm but was then delayed to 5pm over alleged "train delays". Fans started lining up outside in cold freezing rain around 5pm (close to 0 degrees in dark January evening and constant rain)
Only an hour later, at 6pm, Twigs showed up and entered the venue. We are all soaking and annoyed by that point but if she was there now we'd be starting right? Well no, the actual thing only started close to 7pm. The venue staff kept coming out to tell us "10-15 more mins" with her nowhere in sight even though she was inside the venue and everything was setup.
So what was twigs doing in the meantime? She was on her Discord server promoting her album and kii kiing with them. She was getting everyone to spam EUSEXUA and just sh*tpost as we waited to meet her for less than a minute. I was looking at the times and the messages started when she got to the venue and stopped when she came out to the front. When the actual thing started, there was a bodyguard with her who made sure no one spoke with her more than like 20 seconds.
I was happy that I met her and got a picture, and I didn't want the circumstances to take away from the actual experience so I just moved on from it, but seeing what's been happening with her concert dates and her little "I'm a misunderstood artist" meltdown on there and when I saw this message, well I was fuming.
I shared a quick message about my signing experience with utmost respect (knowing they are all snowflakes) and saying that I love her but I was upset etc. Of course the mods deleted my message saying "i'm fostering a negative vibe and twigs was just being vulnerable here and we must respect her". There was nothing rude about my message and it was just recounting what happened that day.
Then I saw Twigs asking people what she can explain so I took the opportunity and of course they immediately deleted my message and banned me.
Idk what was so hard to just apologize about the concert postponements with a generic pr message before they happened? If you can't handle the business side of things, hire people for it. She is an incredibly talented artist with great music but this is your job and it reeks of unprofessionalism when it's a constant pattern. I would have a lot more sympathy and understanding for her if I didn't have this first hand experience with her so no thank you with the "parasocial fans are ruining artists" tirade.
