True, but last week, both Finneas and Shawn Mendes announced albums with a vinyl preorder for October releases. I’d be very surprised if she announced the album let’s say next week for a September release.

It’s a route that almost no one is taking these days, including Beyoncé or Taylor, who both did it in the past. Plus Lana is a big vinyl seller: to miss on these sales and numbers on week 1, I’d be the first surprised by it. The only way I see a digital release before a physical one would be for an album Interscope doesn’t bet on for big numbers, like an audiobook (who wouldn’t even go through the usual streaming platforms) or a cover album.

Album out 5 or 6 weeks after preorder / lead single / official announcement has been done a lot this passed year, including Billie and Finneas, who are both signed to Interscope as well. So, an October release is still possible, but it’d have to be announced like in the next weeks. If by September 10th, we heard nothing, I won’t get my hopes up for a 2024 release, tbh.

It has become my second favourite album from her If not for the damn pastor interlude, it’s skipless. It’s such a shame she removed Zodiac for the interlude: it could have become my number 1 album from her if she did.

I’m in minority here for preferring the Norman version of BAR rather than the demo as for BB, the more we learn about it, the more we should see it as a « collection of songs that tell her story ». Agree with you that pretty much all of the unreleased songs there don’t fit very much the album, but the whole track list isn’t cohesive, except maybe the first five tracks (and even then, it’s not a perfect and smooth ride). She usually is more « careful » about integrating an unreleased song on her albums.

Im really not worried about Lasso tbh (except maybe the inevitable Nikki collab ): Henry sounds lovely, Tough is such a bop (if it makes the cut of the album), In God’s Time truly doesn’t sound country per se form what we heard. I really think it won’t be « traditional country » at all, just some sounds blended in the prod of the songs.

I like to compare what other artists are doing at the moment to give me an idea of when things could happen. Many artists are having a short prerelease era (like 5-6 weeks prior to the album): Shawn, Finneas, Billie earlier this year, even Jesse Rutherford. So, if she does release the lead and preorder in early September, an October or early November release isn’t out of the question at all. After US thanksgiving, not impossible but labels are a bit meh because of Mariah season. My bets are for the single to be out after her last Ocean Blvd shows, for an Oct 11 or 25 release for Lasso (I didn’t see a « big name » attached yet to those dates). But if by October we heard nothing, Im not getting any hopes for a release before 2025

Both Arcadia and Country Roads, Take Me Home are hitting hard right now… I know many of you don’t like Drew, but I hope he is involved on at least one track on Lasso (although he’s been busy with FJM lately, working on his new LP).

Plus I’ll add that when she posted 10000 snippets through October and November, without any indications of the album coming, I thought she doing the same as in the LFL era: posting snippets weeks before release of the album… which wasn’t at all the case. To me, whenever we start to hear music, this is when I can’t wait. True, we’ve heard a snippet to Henry, but I guess I must know the drill by now that it doesn’t excite me as it used to (sadly).

I hadn’t realized that we were still in the Ocean Blvd tour… I thought it had ended last summer… Fenway Park slowly introduced the new era, Coachella kinda introduced the look… So, Lasso era will go full swing after her August shows, in September? Who was the LB user who said that we got Tough earlier than expected, that it was supposed to be later but that the snippet got hype from both fandoms and her label decided to release it earlier?

We know she has a terrible track record on that regard… but maybe (just MAYBE) it could have had happened on time (unless there’s a surprise release, I don’t see a September release being realistic TBH, but the lead single in September, that I believe in ). I said 10000 times, but 2024 is a big year for releases and labels want the best week possible for a release to have big numbers and plans seem to change all the time (I also suspect TayTay to be a problem in this big picture: we know she has the TVs that she could announce anytime and drop within six weeks, and we all know it’ll go straight up to number 1, even if it’s not new material). So, maybe her label said a fall release was possible when she announced it if she was mostly done with it. But I can’t give her the benefit of the doubt for speaking way too soon about it though. (imagine if she surprise drops Lasso in September after all; she would have spoiled the damn thing )

Thing is if we do lock up this thread and things finally happen, it could take a couple of hours before the mods unlock it if no one is around. A thread gets locked when people argue too much or derail it off-topic, which didn’t happen that much in the last weeks. NFR’s pre-release was another story altogether True, its kinda slow and boring right now, we still argue about Jack being a good producer or not, but it’s kinda inevitable haha. However, even in dry periods, we do get cute reminders : yesterday, when someone posted about the Neil pictures of the desert, although I had seen them, I thought it was cute and would fit the aesthetics of a country album.
