Deadly Nightshade liked a post in a topic by lavender-sunshine in "Ultraviolence" to premier tomorrow on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe!
When I heard the live version, I expected it to be the standout song of the album. I was disappointed that the vocals are so airy in the chorus, but it grew on me by the end of one listen. I especially love the bridge ("We could go back to New York..."), the "I can hear sirens" line, and the reverb guitar around the 'sirens' part.

Just realised - maybe the comparatively poor production value is what she meant by UV being "unlistenable" as an album? Purposefully raw production?

So many leaks lately, I've had to go from two to three main Unreleased playlists: Florida Dark, Hollywood's Dead, and now Motel Flower Nation.
Motel Flower Nation
Lucky Ones (demo)
Driving in Cars
Prom Song (Gone Wrong)
1949
Dangerous Girl
Match Made in Heaven
Queen of the Gas Station (acoustic demo)
Moi Je Joue
White Pontiac Heaven (acapella)
Money Hunny
Never Let Me Go
Hundred Dollar Bill ("demo")
Velvet Crowbar
Motel 6 (acapella)
Get Drunk
Live or Die
Methamphetamines (acapella)
Elvis
She's Not Me
End of the World (live)
I've tried to make it tell a story (though not a "real" Lizzy story per se). And now I am so ready to hear The Paradise Edition.

I haven't dove into Lana's older stuff deeply at all, but I recently took a few hours and listened through what seemed like a bunch of her unreleased material and compiled my favorites into the only non-iTunes Lana album I have, (other than the Goodbye Kiss cover which I love) simply titled 'Unreleased'. Here's the list! It all just flows so perfect and I'm so excited about it! It's like I have a whole new Lana album!!
By the way, if anyone sees this list and can recommend any other great unreleased tracks that kinda would go along well with what I have, let me know!

TRENCH liked a post in a topic by lavender-sunshine in Reoccurrence in Lana's melodies and structures?
Even though the moods of the songs are so different, there is melodic similarity between the choruses of You & Me and Dangerous Girl. The notes are almost exactly the same.

There are no LDR songs that are overrated commercially or critically. They are all underrated (some by a wide margin) (I didn't take in consideration that bastard SS remix )

Vom. Some of these are enough to scare me off from ever getting a tattoo.
Gotta say I'm a fan of this one though.

Oh my fking god. I thought she would make stripped-down acoustic music and now she is coming to slaughter everyone´s throat. A Clockwork Orange inspired music video for the first single ?

Credit where credit is due for the fanmade covers, because they're basically taken from everywhere. Some from Coverlandia, some from users here. I don't remember all the creators, but if you see your work in my library, I appreciate you.
Excuse the ghetto photoshopping, but I do offer bonus points if you can figure out what all of the blurred albums are.
This is the slightly second least dark unreleased album of the four I've cobbled together. It's not good for much, except for some casual shuffling occasionally. The tracklist is messy and the songs don't mesh well. I'll probably remake this one in a few months.
Yeah, we all have our demos. This is probably the messiest, because I haven't bothered to organize at all. They're all out of order and look like crap.
This is my more pop inspired fun (by Lana standards) unreleased album. The lightest by far and probably my favorite. It's useful for lonely nights.
This bit is whatever's left after I messed with the God Bless America Mixtape. I think I kicked out the interludes and some songs I already had. Then again, it was a while ago, so I might've done more.
The second darkest of the four unreleased albums. It's got some oddballs in Daddy Issues and Moi Je Joue, but for the most part, it plays alright.
And at last we've reached the least often played part of my library. I listen to this one maybe every other month. It's older stuff and I just can't get into most of it, despite the fact that there's some good songs like Noir and Afraid.

lavender-sunshine liked a post in a topic by M.I.A. in Lana's Inspirations & Influences
Oh this is a thread for me since I am collecting her inspirations for a long time now.
Well first , lets talk about her music inspirations .
She loves the 'masters of every genre' . She loves Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen , Eminem , Biggie Smalls , Britney Spears and Nirvana . She is also a huge fan of Anthony and the Johnsons , the Crystal Method , The Beach Boys , Nina Simone , Elvis Presley , Chris Isaak , Bruce Springsteen and Jeff Buckley .
She always listens to the same songs over and over again . The first single she ever bought was Coolios Gangsters Paradise .
Her lyrical inspirations would be Allen Ginsberg and the other Beat poets , Walt Whitman , Albert Camus and Sartre. She mentioned the last two in an interview and posted quotes of them . Allen Ginsbergs Howl was her introduction to the world of poetry and she said it changed her live , she is transporting a copy of it in her pocket . Cute , isnt it ?
She also loves self-help books like The Master Key System . Lolita the book and the movie is also a huge inspiration of hers.
She generally loves the 50s, 60s and 20s . Fashion icons are Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall .
Oh , her favourite movies are The Godfather 1 and 2 , American Beauty (the soundtrack influenced Born To Die a lot) , Sin City , Virgin Suicide and Scarface.
And also this is a fitting quote of hers .
/close this thread .
Any questions ?
