Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

Isn't she just quoting Stargirl lyrics? -
Yeah but when the actual audio leaked it was no longer on the tracklist in 2017?
-
I agree that we should just let the leaked songs die unless Charli has a desire to release them. No Angel and Girls Night Out were always her favourites and she fought for them to be released. I don't mind getting Blame It On Your Love, despite having a demo and Track 10 because I know Charli cares about the song and wanted it to be out there for people to hear. I think Taxi is the trap, I personally don't have a desire for that song and the fact that it she performed it at Exchange (alongside other scrapped songs) and it wasn't included on the leaked draft of XCX World suggests Charli didn't want to release it. If she does pursue the release then I worry that's when the floodgates will open, cos fans will think they can just spam her and harass for any unreleased song and think she'll give in and put it out.

What? Lana isn't a radio or charts artist, she isn't even that much of a streaming force. She's an album artist who most likely relies on physical sales of her album. Did the singles from this album (pre-Doin Time) even get sent to radio? -
I'd still be more than happy for her to drop a little EP like this within the next 5 months... 01. Bounce (ft. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu) 02. Party Party 03. WGFU 04. Party 4 U

I don't think the album is scrapped... The only registered songs we had around the time for Honeymoon were Burnt Norton, Wild One and Beautiful People. Similarly with Lust For Life, only Love (YAIL) and Lust For Life were publicly registered pre-album? The rest of the song titles were confirmed by Lana in interviews, producers or just speculation based on snippets. She's already confirmed that there is no plan for this album (which seems to me that Lana is fully in control - hence the label are unable to make announcements or confirm details until Lana has decided her next move). She also made it clear that she planned to do no promo for this album, as disappointing as that is. There's the possibility that her team have upped the security of her music in general after the lead and potential second single leaked months in advance last era, followed by a whole album leak a week before release. V magazine may have been postponed to coincide with the album release, maybe it wasn't music related at all or maybe Lana backed out cos of creative differences, it wouldn't be the first time she's invested time and money into something to then scrap it or reuse it later on. -

Wouldn't she be listed in the June section then? Alongside the album title like other releases? This to me just seems like pure speculation, we know the album is coming at some point and so do they. I wouldn't take this as confirmation or a clue to the release date. -

Is this a new song title? -
If Come To My Party does get a release or makes it on to the album, I hope it gets the Breaking Up treatment (i.e. buzz single with video) rather than being pushed as a radio single. I want to hear more new Charli!

She could always just post the album cover, like... -
Now I think about it, didn't they do this with Sucker? Like Boom Clap in June, remixes etc following. Then Break The Rules, with music video and remixes following. The album pre-order was announced in August. Then London Queen was dropped with a lyric video, Breaking Up with a music video and then finally Gold Coins before the album in December. I mean that rollout was over 6 months looking back. Plus the original XCX3 rollout seemed to be planned in the same way, with After The Afterparty being released end of October but the album scheduled for May the next year... Like 6 months in between again.
-
I wouldn't even mind her doing a double album, like Marina. She had that vision with the original XCX3 (after the delay), saying it was the upbeat party album and that Number 1 Angel was the crying in the champagne side of the album. Imagine the pop album coming in August with Blame It On Your Love as the lead single, then a follow up, mixtape style, part 2 being released in November? Get another double LP pressing going just in time for Christmas.
-
June and July could easily be filled with Spicy, the two new music videos and BIOYL remixes, drop them weekly and then make an EP at the end.
-
This is super confusing, she said BIOYL was the first single of the new era, then tour teases, mentioning the album repeatedly and now we're going back to monthly drops?! Is the album included in the next 5 months? Unless we're getting Spicy in June, a second single or buzz track in July, another collab in August and September, third single and album pre-order in October then album in November with a tour somewhere in between?

For real though who cares if Lana is authentic or not? We all fell for it either way and we'll continue to buy the music and buy into the persona. -

Yeah, I know this but I just think the melody could be better and there's no reason it couldn't be cos there's clearly no deadline or schedule. Hence the comparison to Change which also could've been better but had the deadline. -

I never said it did, i'm just saying that the song still could've been produced better and doesn't sound that different from Change considering the difference of time in creation. -

The fact that Change was a last minute concept and recorded pretty imminently to meet a deadline and then Hope took three years and had time for the production to be ammended and perfected says a lot about her consistency. -

Hmmm, I'm 50/50. Ultraviolence and Lust For Life are her longest records, both at 16 songs and one of those is a cohesive masterpiece and the other not so much... If the cover is on the album and she had 13 songs finalised in January then I wouldn't mind 14 or 15 songs. -

Lana - a cover song from a documentary that may appear on her upcoming album that is already 3 singles in. Halsey - the lead single from her upcoming album after having a #1 hit Like it makes sense why Halsey is #2 on the playlist. -
I think it's safe to assume that Without Me will be on the album just as a selling point and the streams, but I see Nightmare being treated as the lead single, it seems like a new sonic and visual direction.
-
This has now happened with No Angel (SOPHIE's production was better etc), GNO (ugh the production hasn't changed, been listening to this for a year), 1999 (the demo was better, why did she change the lyrics, not Troye) and now BIOYL (Track 10 is better, Stefflon was better etc). And y'all wonder why she won't release CTMP or Taxi.

I agree that standards have lowered, especially since the HIADTFAWLMT cover... that being her worst. But let's be honest, other than VG, MAC and VB, all her single covers were just stills or shots from the music video. I agree that some of them are stunning and did what they needed to do but let's not pretend like she always put so much effort into her single covers. But within this era, this is the best visual she's served thus far. -

Fuck that is an aesthetic that I am so ready to embrace. -
Like I'm not a 1999 fan but surely it'll be on the album for the streams? I hope BIOYL isn't the official lead and start of the era, cos she's setting herself up to flop.
