i was thinking about this recently, i hope she can feel comfortable using the american flag / americana in her art again at some point, there's really nothing wrong with it, but i see why she's not totally on board with it right now.

I was expecting Texas to go purple like in the 2040s not  next week lmfaoooooooo 

there are plenty of democrats here, speaking as someone who is one of them. (im sure one of the reasons is bc a lot of people move here from other -- usually more expensive -- states. im from california and moved here in 2013) i'm just hoping it's enough to flip the state to blue. if this happens, it will be a great day for everyone. 3/4 of my siblings and i are under the age of 30 and are voting blue

i loved it!

sweetener was a mixed bag, but at least it had high moments. this album seems like 14 different demos of the same song

i really don't understand the comparison to sweetener, they are similar in the fact that they have r&b influence, and are very sugary and light, but at least sweetener felt geniune, and every song was distinct  i do believe that sweetener wasn't as well received at first because it was so drastically different from dangerous woman, or really anything she was doing before, not because it was bad, but this album was so underwhelming and cheap, at least pharrel's work on sweetener had a charming element to it, this album in comparison is like stale milk.

“experimental” isn’t technically a genre it’s just whenever an artist experiments out of their comfort zone or the contemporary 

She’s literally incoherent in this song it’s like laughable.

i didn't understand a lot of what she was saying either, you're definitely not the only one.
 
and honestly i think it's the most solid track on the album  like it's pretty bland but i can see why it's a bop and it's cute. 

Speaking solely of the Positions single, because I haven’t listened to the album itself, I find it hard to actually hear the lyrics correctly at times ?

Honestly it's not too late to scrap the album and come back with something better next year @arianagrande

Anyways, my thoughts on "positions":
 
I feared for the worst when I heard the lead and well.. sorry, but we have to call a spade a spade. This album is terribly bland and generic R&B. I'd rather listen to actually respected R&B artists like SZA, Tinashe, Summer Walker, etc who make wayyyy better R&B, or at least better than whatever the fuck this is.... Chile, the result when the girls try to copy Summer Walker... You just hate to see it. Most of these instrumentals sound straight out of some "Free Lofi Beats to Study to" compilation on Youtube. And as if that weren't enough, the songwriting is downright awful and cheesy.  The track lengths aren't helping either, most of these songs don't go anywhere and the final result feels very... undercooked for my taste. I pretty much adored all of her previous albums on first listen whereas positions just left me bored and wanting more. Wasted potential.
It's sad to see her peers getting better with each release while she seems to be regressing.
 
Oh yeah and that Weekend collab? Not as good as I initially expected but still not terrible. I'll stream that one when it comes out I guess.

I like Safety Net and Motive. Overall, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the album. She's one of my fave artists for sure though and I hope the album does well anyway. I wonder if I feel this way about this one bc I thought her last couple albums were some of the best I've ever heard and so in my mind it's maybe too hard to beat or match with? Probably
