  1. BBS reminds me of 13 Beaches in that they both feel like songs that both stick out (almost feel out of place??) on their albums and sound like what I think a really advanced AI would spit out if you asked it to make a Lana Del Rey song. Like I don’t want to say they sound like a parody of Lana Del Rey because that’s extremely overcritical and more harsh than I mean it to sound, but they kinda sound like imitations of Lana songs? Or like Lana trying to imitate the sound of BTD/Paradise but make it sound slightly newer? Even though BBS isn’t the same style as BTD… Am I making any sense?
  2. Just noticed the similarities in these lyrics from Say Yes to Heaven and Mariners Apartment Complex ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Both referencing the sea and how Lana is a sort of stable, reliable rock there to guide the other person back to safety and to home.
  3. I got collector of memories, which I agree with, but the Lana songs here are way more up my alley than than the ones I had for mine. Maybe I’m a giver and I don’t realize it? edit: but essences of experience has songs I connect more with too than the ones in collector to memories. Hmm..
  4. Thank you making this!! I got Collector of Memories too. I love White Ferrari by Frank Ocean.
  5. My top 3 so far: Blind Kill Bill Good Days (I know it's old, but I still think it's one of the best)
  6. maybe it's cuz i'm tipsy but i'm listening to the album for the first time and REALLY vibing with it. like i needed this. also, Blind is that bitch
  7. It’s grown/growing on me. On first listen, it just reminded me of LMLYLAW, Arcadia, and just BB overall, which was disappointing. The lyrics really pulled me in, and I’m warming up to the song overall. Once the album comes out, I doubt I’ll ever listen to it individually, but I can’t wait to see it within the context of the album. I’m not particularly concerned because Lana likes to release ballads as singles that I never tend to really care for or listen to regularly in the long term (Terrance Loves You, Hope is a dangerous thing, LMLYLAW, Arcadia), and they usually aren’t really that great of a preview of the rest of the album. So I have hope that the rest could be different and better, even if this is growing on me. I just really am hoping for a strong album this time around. Having two albums in a row where I regularly skipped half the songs kinda hurt me since Lana has been one of my favorite artists ever from the moment I discovered her a decade ago.
  8. So, given I haven’t had time to follow this thread much since the release, what’s the consensus on the song here?
  9. I’m excited for whatever the angry songs may be if those are still happening. I miss Lana’s bad bitch/gangster energy.
  10. I just remembered (and realized that I forgot) that Watercolor Eyes existed.
  11. I'm usually a vibes bitch, not a lyrics bitch, but I made a concerted effort for once to pay attention to the lyrics of this song, and they are my favorite part of the song ??? I've been listening to her for 10 years, but like, are her lyrics/song meanings always this good and I've just never noticed?
  12. No super deep analysis here, but to me, she's comparing herself to the forgotten tunnel. Her inner beauty/personality is like the "mosaic ceilings, painted tiles on the wall" of the tunnel, but no man has wanted to explore her inner beauty/personality. They suppress it instead, just like the walls that form the structure of the tunnel but are covered with the mosaic painted tiles on the inside ("Handmade beauty sealed up by two man-made walls"). No men have cared enough to actually get to know the real her. She wants to know when it's her turn for a man to actually love her for her ("When's it gonna be my turn?") The suppression and apathy around her true self causes her to lose confidence in herself, relying on sex and his supposed love to make her love herself again ("Fuck me to death, love me until I love myself"). The woman in the second verse feels like another metaphor for Lana and the tunnel. She sings Hotel California, not because she enjoys it, but because she thinks it's what men want from her and will lure them in enough to want to know her inner beauty.
  13. These lines are underrated. All of her men are suppressing her inner beauty with their man-made walls.
  14. I’m going to need approximately 10 business days to process everything that just happened
  15. The way we were picturing a COTCC group photo but it was just a list of their names instead
  16. my attention span and productivity at work is straight garbage today
  17. you learn something new everyday. ty for your wisdom.
  18. I do not have a vinyl player, and I won't buy vinyls without one. I know some people buy them for display, but I have a grid of framed 12x12 album covers on my wall as a cheaper alternative. My usual tradition is to go to Target on release day and buy the CD to support Lana and look through the booklet/album design, but then I go listen to the album in lossless on Apple Music with my hifi headphone setup.
