Looking at that Vine on mute is so funny, he looks like a 6 year old from Wisconsin trying to be hood

But he's "the master of his genre"

I was responding to the many people i have seen on this forum who think that lana's sole motivation is to materialize her inner world and pointing out a different facet. yes, she has the very human desire of being respected and admired and there are many dynamic motivations and desires at play. and yeah, these are all very human things, although ultimately, i prefer bear things

well i wanna know about the underwear of a lot of ppl but i don't actually go around asking them

overall interesting post btw and one i'm glad for, i'm sure we all secretly get a little wet when evil daddy puts us in line but i did want to debate one point with you

i feel like we interpreted this differently. she could throw in the towel and live comfortably off her earnings but she'd probably be miserable anyway. i know it sounds pretentious as hell but lana definitely strikes me as a creative type, definitely some form of artist. my experiences of artists is that they rarely create for others and often don't even create for themselves. it's kind of something internal that drives them to make things, because it brings them some kind of catharsis. in this sense i kind of get what lana means when she says she wants to quit, even if it sounds hypocritical. writing, painting, any form of artistic creation can be simultaneously frustrating and calming. i know she doesn't necessarily love the fame and a lot of the bullshit that comes with it, but i'm also certain she's passionate about her music, which is why i know deep down she won't quit. mostly i think she needs to learn to think before she speaks, particularly to journalists. this doesn't excuse her for having such a big chip on her shoulder and at times acting a little bratty/dramatic, but it's just how i kind of view the whole situation.
  6. Poison Ivy liked a post in a topic by evilentity in Does Lana regret becoming famous?
I'm surprised to find myself quoting cliché Pussycat Dolls lyrics, but it's a classic case of "Be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it. [imitation Lil Jon voice 'Hey!']"

Lana clearly desperately wanted to be famous, but isn't so sure about it now that she is. Her statements to the contrary-- that she never wanted to be famous-- are frankly revisionist bullshit belied by her past statements and actions. They instead reflect her newfound realization that fame isn't all it's cracked up to be and her projection of that feeling onto her past rather than an accurate representation of her disposition towards fame in the past.

There was a good discussion about Lana's love/hate relationship with fame (loving the positive aspects of fame, hating the negative aspects) in another thread beginning around this post.

  7. Poison Ivy liked a post in a topic by YUNGATA in What Lana song struck you first?
Back when I was a flop fan and heard tracks off aka for the first time, not knowing aka was a whole entire album. I had already been jammin to video games and started scrolling through the lana tumblr tag in search of tunes. When I came across Pawn Shop Blues idk man it was moment, something definitely clicked for me. I was very struck by the stark contrast to the heavily produced video games and the vulnerability of the lyrics in psb. It (and eventually the rest of aka) made me feel like lana's talent lay far beyond video games and everything I was reading about her at the time. So ya I guess that's when the stanning begun

Born To Die bc I kept watching the video (I didn't like her but I couldn't stop listening to the song). Then I downloaded the whole album

I found two other short "interviews" with dpa. I'm not sure if they belong to the one I already posted but as all of them took place in Berlin and were made by dpa I guess that it's actually one interview and those questions that I've found now are just outtakes or idk.
I translated them for you too but I did it very quickly so there might be some tiny mistakes in it.  (Translation in spoilers)

I get your point but I stand with what I've said. I don't think it's ok to be a disrespectful asshole because someone (gasp) DISAGREES WITH YOUR FAVE! god forbid

K I'm sorry but nobody asks for harassment by giving an opinion. Twitter is a public website and people are allowed to give their opinion there.

God some of you fucking make me sick.
  16. Poison Ivy liked a post in a topic by HEARTCORE in Lana answers Frances Bean Cobain
lmao some of you guys need to calm the fuck down; quit bashing Sky and Frances. as Sky rightfully said, the issue is suicide, not Lana. i swear some of y'all are such blind Lana followers that you instantly support what she says, whether it's right or not. Lana isn't a perfect person, she says and does things that are problematic (eg. the whole 'whore' debate from Fucked My Way) and i think it's right that people point this out to her. in the interview, she does say that she wishes she was dead, but i feel she was goaded into that response and didn't expect the huge backlash that appeared as a result. Frances is reminding Lana that she is a celeb now; she has to monitor what she says because it can and will be misconstrued. stop hating on Frances and Sky because they say things you disagree with.

Hum that's kinda sad but at least it's for the best I guess. Just don't want Lana to fall for that pretentious arty pedophile aka James Dean Franco tbh.

(And now Barrie's dick is free    )
  20. Poison Ivy liked a post in a topic by YUNGATA in Lindsay Zoladz writes positive article discussing Ultraviolence
idk man the vibe I've always gotten from what Lindsay Zoladz writes about lana is that she just doesn't really get her and tbh, she's trying way too hard. lana isn't some feminist enigma that needs to be deconstructed and analysed to make sense of. Her core themes are pretty obviously love, sex, heartbreak and the attainability of the american dream. the fact that she's singing from a submissive standpoint rather than a dominant one shouldn't really change anything. ppl need 2 learn that sexual submission doesn't always equal misogyny.

The lack of a MOTM for May is not my fault. The four-day delay on the MOTM for June is, though, so here we are! The handsome and captivating SitarHero caught up with the graphique artiste in the pre-Ultraviolence lull to discuss food, art, being bitter, and Lana haself. Peep his crazy good work here and here while we're celebrating.

Yeah, after watching again, the daddy definitely killed Lana, possibly hid the body in his trunk, and now he's consistently haunted by her, both physically and in his memory.

It's the same guy as West Coast, so I'm just gonna play it like a sequel.

Basically, it's a "you fucked up and now youre gonna pay" story.

Or, I could be entirely wrong, that's what threads are for.
    What's everyone else's interpretation?
