This album has singlehandedly given me insomnia; the songs are so earwormy that I can't get them out of my head at night

a note to all the creeps who keep bringing Creep up-
Radiohead LOST a lawsuit in that they were found to have stolen Creep the song from
The 70s group The Hollies Air that I breathe songwriter Albert Hammond (he is famous for the single "It never rains in Southern California", and is the father
of the Strokes Albert Hammond Jr. (He was not a member of the Hollies).
If one listens to the Hollies song, one can tell it itself sounds like many early (and later) Elton John songs and also sounds like the Procol Harum "Whiter shade of Pale"
Elton and every other piano player of course that is trained on classic piano, will note that it all begins with Johann S. Bach among others the "Air on a G String"
.........................
NOTE FOR ANOTHER CONNECTION-
Sean Lennon did two albums with Albert Hammond Jr.
I long for a super group
Lana
Sean
Dhanni Harrison
Elton John
Perhaps call themselves Peaches & Strawberries

Change and Heart Shaped Box's verses have very similar melodies

Not sure if we're taking into account the production, but at 3:12 in "13 Beaches", there is a sound that is scattered all across "High By The Beach" (see, 1:50 for example - it's easier to hear in the instrumental version of the song)
The last few seconds of "Heroin" are also almost identical to the last few seconds of "Cruel World"... go have a listen, you'll be amazed! You have to turn up the volume a bit to hear it though.
The last few seconds of "Tomorrow Never Came" are also the same as the last few seconds in Lana's cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", the instrument and notes are exactly the same.
Also, I've noted in the post-release thread already, but the melodies throughout "White Mustang" and "Heroin" are extremely similar... the latter is almost like a continuation or a reprise of the former.
And of course, the "Get Free" chorus is quite reminiscent of "Back to the Basics", one of Lana's unreleased.

poetic jess liked a post in a topic by DeadAgainst in What is Lana's best produced album?
Paradise and Ultraviolence for different reasons
Paradise for being the best expression of baroque pop with the lushest arrangements
Ultraviolence for being the rawest and most organic and authentically vintage sound (MELLOTRON!)
But ultimately UV probably wins out, although only before it got ruined in mastering

I dashed this off before going to work so of course Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come" is an obvi one

13 Beaches -
"Ballroom of my mind" could possibly refer to Five To One by The Doors - "Your ballroom days are over, baby." + Lana posted a photo of Jim Morrison & Pam Courson on her honeymoon account a few months ago.
"Underneath the pines" could possibly refer to Nirvana's cover of Where Did You Sleep Last Night - "In the pines, in the pines."
Cherry -
I Fall To Pieces by Patsy Cline- I remember Lana uploaded a video of herself in the woods while Patsy was playing sometime last year.
White Mustang -
I was thinking maybe the whistling near the end was inspired by Jealous Guy by John Lennon since she was listening to that song while doing her makeup. Could be a stretch though.
Tomorrow Never Came -
Ask Me Why by The Beatles
Tomorrow Never Knows by The Beatles
Tomorrow Never Comes by Elvis Presley
Tomorrow May Never Come by Yoko Ono
Change -
A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke
Get Free -
Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) by Neil Young - a line from this song was also included in Kurt Cobain's suicide note.
My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue) by Neil Young
