we have no idea what’s behind the “lack of professionalism” .. it could be her or the label or something entirely separate like we have no idea. but either way, lana as a professional.... isn’t all the stuff we’re mad at her for her managers job anyways?? we know ben and her label are busy with different Shiny and New artists, so i feel like she’s probably just been left to herself and is just kind of meandering until people have time for her again, and she’s probably using it as a well deserved break. we’ve been really lucky with the amount of content we’ve gotten from her over the span of her career, not every artist releases so much so quickly and consistently, not to mention the hundreds upon hundreds of unreleased and alt versions and demos we have and the even more we know of but don’t have yet but could potentially in the future

THIS Thank you so much for saying this, my thoughts exactly!! I used to wear make up daily, but now I just cba anymore - not because of any mental health condition or cry for help. It's because I just don't feel the need anymore - although I still have issues, I am just more comfortable in my own skin and don't feel like I need to improve my appearance for anyone. And that's a positive thing - why should women feel the need to change how they look for others? Honestly, not wearing make-up regularly is not a big deal and likely does not mean something deep is going on! I am not trying to roast anyone, I love you guys, but pllleeeeaaaasseee just keep that in mind!

the way i see it a shift is a shift. only difference i see here is she's not choosing makeup and is going quite androgynous, the instagram post of her wearing a suit being one example. i just don't see how her new look isn't 'beautiful' just because it's not as sexual, i also know people who went wild for her bare faced wearing that suit so it's subjective. 

love this and agree. i don't think she should be policed on how she chooses to look, no matter what that look is and why. i think it's problematic to assume something 'negative' is afoot because she doesn't look how we want her to. people are free to change and changes in how you present yourself can be a natural progression. i hoped the bare face was indication she was more comfortable with herself, but ultimately the most revealing thing overall is how she behaves towards her fans and her work. we're all fighting a similar damn battle to be 'beautiful'

If we don't get the album this year summer-fall,
then i don't think we will get the album at all. at least not in the state that it is or was til today!
lana doesnt like to release stuff that is not compatible with her current state.
 
so if we get a new album next year it will NOT be NFR!

tbh seeing comments about her image/“new persona” are really bothersome. i don’t know how her natural, bare face is less genuine than when she’s wearing eyeliner/lip liner/lash extensions/ etc.. she’s dressed causally her whole life. i mean she used to perform in jeans and that god awful green capitol records shirt for gods sake like,, idk. women will never be free huh. first you all diagnosed her with depression when she stopped wearing makeup and started tying her hair back or had some frizz. now because she does yoga and drinks matcha she’s basic with no personality? even tho these things really have nothing to do with her personality?? and besides, yoga and matcha are healthy, wholesome things. do you want her to go back to being an alcoholic?? my personal taste is very glamorous but i don’t dress like that day to day, it’s exhausting. i’m sure even moreso when you’re a celebrity and every time you leave your house you’re expected to perform for the public even if it’s just getting groceries. just let her exist naturally she doesn’t need lash extensions and fresh acrylics and an outfit that shows off her bare legs every time we see her . it’s like you guys forget ldr is a persona and a character she performs on stage for us, she’s not Lana Del Rey born to die cola honeymoon west coast million dollar man when she’s getting ice cream and window shopping with her friends. she’s lizzy grant (aka HERSELF). she doesn't have to be lana del rey when she doesn't want to. i think what we're seeing now is just lizzy grant, the most genuine version of herself because…. it’s her???

OT but reading this thread really makes me want a matcha latte. Do they taste good enough to become basic for? Or should I stick to something that wouldn't look like it should be in the back of a mom-car tesla with no kids in the backseat?

strange that you mentioned it... bc i dreamed about them today and i spent all day thinking about them getting back together. i even watched summer wine again after years lol. i just feel that this era matches their vibe as a couple. i like think vb and mac are about Barrie. i'm probably wrong though.

I honestly don’t see why so many of you care about how she dresses. I get that her first videos were very polished and helped establish her aesthetics. I love when she looks like an Old Hollywood starlet, but I don’t mind the « natural » looks this time around or the tone-down looks. It fits the music. Anyways, hasn’t Chuck laughed when she learned Lana was a fashion icon? Like she never cared about her looks? I almost feel her polished image never was « really her », but she went along for the character of Lana Del Rey.
Anyways, you know my point of view: if the music is good, I can look away on a lot from her lol.

If she actually listened to us she might've come up with a funny professional video with nice cinematography of her sipping tea for 5 minutes straight with her whispering "it's coming soon" mysteriously in the background. Poking fun at herself acknowledging all of our concerns at once. Everyone would love her self-reflection while completely not giving a fuck.
 
She COULD make an era out of pure sloppiness and turn it into a profit but she won't. And I shit you not we'd all be here for it if we wanted to or not.

I don’t think we know who she is anymore. After the ‘Plain Jane’ Billboard cover last year as well as the ‘Plain Jane’ photo of her sitting by the side of the highway, she’s clearly negatively reacting to her former glamorous image and saying, “I’m not that.”
 
Keep in mind that she’s been roundly criticized by the Left, by members of her own party, many of whom are feminists against the glamorization of women, which they consider a male plot to keep women oppressed.
 
Personally, I think she’s going through an identity crisis, or coming out of one, which is to be expected, perhaps, for someone who has assumed numerous identities over the last ten years or so, each with its own set of expectations.
 
That’s why the NFR cover art will tell us a lot—not necessarily who she is or ‘ really is,’ but at least how she is projecting herself to the world now.

what I'm most upset about is that Lana isn't working with Neil Krug.
His photography of her really conveys what Lana Del Rey is

I miss when Lana and Barrie were together. Not only did we get UV but overall I just like their vibe as a couple.

But like, if she hadn’t teased the whole chorus, I’d still feel excitement and yearn for it so much. I can just tell it’s going to be like verse chorus verse chorus maybe bridge and last chorus and that’ll be it. I bet the choruses will be the same lines anyway, it’s only the second verse that will surprise me, and the bridge if we get one (and it’s a bridge with lyrics and not just humming). The instrumental will probably change slightly when the second verse comes on because I doubt it’ll go back to just a piano again.I dunno. :/ And let me add that I’m afraid I’ll get tired of it quickly, just like Cherry. Cherry was great the first months, now I barely think of it. (Which can be said for the rest of LFL I guess oops I’m ready to get dragged)

Yeah, either way we WON’T get c*nnamon as a single so the only thing we can really crave on rn is her releasing Doin’ Time and her doing a premiere interview answering questions about the album
