I don't understand the whole complaining and talking about the budget.
Maybe the high - budget videos are not priority for Lana. She finally has made UV - the album without any compromise unlike the BTD. With BTD album she had to get attention and gain fans. Now she has more freedom cause she has already her own group of fans. So that;s why the music and also videos of UV are different and not so glamorous.
I think she doesn't care now about the splendore and money for the video.
IMO the most important for her is that video should reflect vision in her head and it doesn't mean much money.

    most. critical. fanbase. ever.

There is something special about the filter she used because it creates a perfect atmosphere. Lana looks so fragile and broken-hearted in that teaser and the way she sits alone in a chapel, in a wedding dress, with flowers + the fact that she just broke up with Barrie... sorry I just can't

This vid makes me worried that if I look through my window I'll see Lana gingerly creeping around my garden in a white dress and taking selfies next to my hydrangeas.

it's so beautiful & i'm in love with the aesthetics, but it would have made a better interlude/non-single video or a photoshoot. she really should have gone all out with the cult theme & i can't believe she missed that opportunity.

this looks like it cost no money so i think she should make a simple video like this one for all of the songs. . .though IDEALLY it would have been nice if she made little vids like this for all of the songs & then bigger budget ones for the singles. like, what happened? shades of cool was so good but why did they blow the budget on a non-single??

Just watched. Fuck, it is utterly beautiful. Don't care what anyone thinks.
It has the vintage seventies feel, it is poetic and romantic. Lana is so sensual. Amazing!
She is dressed like a bride but seems to be mourning someone. And that smile at the chorus.... killing!

    (Yes, it is a tangerine.)

Red dress = sexuality, life, passion, femininity.

Her writing is always great. Sometimes the simpler, the better.

Old Money is Methamphetamines reworked and Black Beauty was leaked, unreleased til UV. So, she MAY rework other demos.

Maybe she will finally release the music she fully wants. I think UV is still mild tea for her. I dont think you can get full artistic freedom on label like Interscope. They dont seemt to support her much this era. They wanted  to change even Black Beauty = wtf ?

I like the concept of Lana wearing a wedding dress in some kind of noir movie. It give us that Virgin Suicides look that we all love ( or at least I do). However I'm really concerned the video is all about Lana in a wedding dress doing gifable things and looking sad. Based on the previews there is anything really besides this.

Also a lot of people here still didn't get that Lana is no longer interested in being a pop star ( or at least to be considered one).
For me UV sounds more a natural progression from Aka, it's like BtD and this "Gangster Nancy Sinatra" sound never happened to her.  So it makes sense she's doing this video herself since she's always talking about how things were simpler and this exactly the image she's building this era- no longer the 50's beauty queen, casual looks in her videos and promotional images etc.

IMHO regarding unreleased songs: if Lana put out very well produced versions of Television Heaven and Tired of Singing the Blues in any format, I'd be happy.

@@Anthem your post really summarizes this thread as a whole. Both albums have their ups and downs Lyrically and production-wise. No need to get worked up, its all a matter of opinion.

I agree that some of Lana's best lyrics (Off To The Races, Carmen...) is on BTD but definitely also her worst (DMD, DP, Lolita are cringeworthy and embarrassing)

Its hard to compare lyrics though, you can take bits of the worst and put it with the best of the other album to make yourself seem right no matter which of her albums you are comparing. I know someone has argued that UV isn't about the lyrics, but they are kind of important if she wants to be taken seriously. Its totally possible to write music that can be both felt instrumentally and lyrically appealing (see: Wish You Were Here - the whole album) which makes some of the repetitive choruses seem lazy (except PWYC because of how she recorded it). With that said, I like UV on the whole more than BTD lyrically. You can't beat Brooklyn Baby, Flipside, Shades of Cool, etc. But at the same time don't undermine some of the amazing songs on BTD and Paradise.
Err anyways... back to the idea of a UV EP.. I support it if she really wants to do it. I don't see why not if she is feeling creative enough to write and feels like she has more to say. I'll be slightly irritated if there's an Ultraviolence: EPtitlehere box set though. I've already bought this once    I'd be really excited for some more Blake collabs and to see if Dan will produce it with her. If not, I wonder how it'll sound.

I can't get enough of Lana and her red dresses, especially those of the party variety.

I've always wondered... do you guys think that people who work with Lana or even she herself browse this forum? And if they did, do you think they would consider anything we say? These are dumb questions, but I'm curious.
