The lies and fabrications that were told over this

Cannot wait for someone to make a masterpost with the full timeline.

Thank you!! Yeah the song is now listed as "Rob Orton" mix, I always wondered why she didn't keep the original mix, the guitars and vocals sound clearler on that version. Thank you, thank you. 🙏

Does @BlackoutZone knows why Lana released this version of West Coast first, but ended up putting this other mix on the album and also used it for the music video? I've been curious about this since 2014. Thought I'd ask since you're here.

I honestly wish there were a whole ass documentary on how this album came to be.

This thread is a very interesting glimpse into a time gone by, the innocence and dreams. Thank you @BlackoutZone for the insight on this iconique album.

Lana on Rolling Stone's list of Best Singers of All Time

Some of the people on that list are either dead or past their prime (like Céline) surely listing her as one of the best wasn't farfetched was it? -

That's fair, Céline has a nasally voice, but I reckon that she doesn't always sound nasally and she can outdo 98% of that stoopid list. -

I'm sorry, but Céline Dion being absent from this list is complete and utter BS. I'm not saying this because of my Quebec bias--she is a music purist. She's never stopped taking vocal lessons, and doing the most to keep her voice healthy and strong. Even past her prime, she's always sounded pitch perfect. She's a top 10 vocalist amongst Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin and that's the end of it. She's literally 54 years old and the only thing preventing her from performing still is a rare disorder, she would still be on stage as we speak if it weren't for that. -

Céline has always had a "nasally" quality to her voice, it's not a post-2000s thing, it's a thing from the getgo... her vocals are still crystal clear and she can belt even in her 50s. Are you okay? -

She should've been in the top 10. That list is a mess. -
Lana’s Management Thirst/Admiration Poll

Ben is a hottie, he lowkey has a similar smile to that House of the Dragon actor--the one with the very distressing smile :3 -
I don't think it's unfair to make such a statement to be frank. There are a lot of similarities between the new title track and songs like LMLYLAW and/or IYLDWM, also she re-used/re-purposed or extrapolated the opening line to NFR. It's not to say that the song is bad, I actually really enjoy the production and I think the third act/last part or outro is fantastic. But the resemblance with her three albums is definitely there if you listen closely. It sounds like a mix between a Jack song and a Blue Banisters song.

I think as Lana stans we are spoiled brats. We get to bicker about what album we like best in her relatively short career. We can chose, debate, fight between 7 released albums plus one more on the way, an EP, two unreleased records and 200+ unreleased songs; meanwhile other stans sometimes wait 5+ years in between album cycles/eras.
-
Yeah it's all just opinions. LanaBoards posts, blog entries, album/song reviews in so-called prestigious media outlets, baldheaded pseudo self-proclaimed music connaiseur and edgelord extraordinaire, etc; it's all the same really.

You will notice that these arguments often happen during droughts. It's rocket science.

It's just funny to me how some yall want her to grow as an artist, or make people accept the fact that she's growing as an artist when someone mentions preferring an earlier album to a new one--telling these fans to go cry about it, to shut up about their complaints or wear a diaper (?), but surely the irony of Lana stalling and making more or less the same wordy, at times unmelodic and understated tunes since NFR isn't lost on you, because that is real growth right? I'm sure this album will feature career highlights, and as much as I enjoy this new song, none of yall can convince me that the new song isn't a carbon copy of what we've heard on the past three albums, instrumentally, melodically and lyrically with a slightly upgraded production.
