im very happy you discovered this "missing link" in lanas work it fits too well to not be intentional ive often thought alot of her music was based on a darker/spiritualy bizzare sort of life but could never tie it to events now i feel like im on the right path i would love to watch this thread grow and to hear what isis thinks.! patience.....patience and i think your right that she would relate to both at once

i also just learned that the kind of speed the soucre would take was titled "Black Beauties!"

What an unusual name you said
    What a spectacular redhead
You really seem like a prize to me
    And you are so mysterious
    When you are not delirious
Oh, what you mean to me

Hi! I think it would be nice to turn this topic on after the Freak video. As I was watching the video this topic just came in mind. A lot of people said it was like a reference to Jim Jones and Charles Manson, the Kool aid cult (related to the red drink) and other stuff related. But It reminded me a lot of Father Yod and his wives also.

It's 'laladelrey' here, i couldn't recover my account, so I'm using this one :c

Srsly, she had the dancing cult girls and decided to go for still images of FJM motionless sitting around with three girls?!? During the f*cking dynamic chorus of the song which has a beat MADE for dancing cult girls?!?

Not me guessing the release date of freak and the video ending with clair de lune. I must be some kind of prophet

You know what, I actually enjoyed the video ! Sure there are some flaws : the Debussy part with ONLY the underwater scenes, the fact that you can sense that it's recycled ...
But when I place this video in the context of UV, it makes me happy : the rural scenery, the sun, her clothes, "Jim" ... It's like justice was made (I too, have a UV video coming up by the way ! )

And I'm a big detractor of everything that's come after Tropico (Shades of Cool passed the test, though)

Edit : here's the music video I was talking about, if anybody's interested :

Drinking Kool-Aid laced with LSD was a ritual in the Acid Tests, a series of parties held by author Ken Kesey in the mid-1960s.

"Come to California and be a freak like me too". It seems a manifesto to join their community. I bet she has read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Kesey buys a bus in which they plan to cross the country. They paint it colorfully and name it “Further”. They traverse the nation, tripping on acid throughout the journey. Also see the cover art of Freak. She posted on Instagram a few days ago. For me it's like "The circus came to town, be with us!".

There's a metaphor of being on the bus in that book. "You're either on the bus or off the bus." (see Honeymoon cover art). After the bus trip, the Pranksters lived communally at Kesey's place in La Honda and did a lot of acid tripping together. Whenever a group of Hippies do this, it causes an interesting psychological state, known as the All-One. One of the universal insights people seem to experience when they take LSD is that their consciousness is connected to a greater consciousness (God?) that all other consciousness is also connected to. Those who weren't attuned were seen as rocking the boat, disrupting the trip. These were the people who were considered "off the bus." The ones who were attuned to the group consciousness, those who did their share of the work, and smile rather than pout, these were the ones who were "on the bus." Thus, the literal meaning of "You are either on the bus or off the bus" is "You are either attuned to the group consciousness or you are not attuned to the group consciousness."

    Btw, love it.

Father John Misty looks a lot like Jim Morrison so maybe there will be a play on that too in the "Freak" video. Who knows. I hope it's better then HBTB. MTWBT was good but not great. Her last great music video was Shades of Cool. Just give us something good Lana

Maybe since someone she admires is part of the video she'll step her game up.

Tragic, Freak fits into the album flow

There r like many haters in here that don't agree with everything she do
she is totes compariable to John Lemon and Mick Jagger

i remember when I was 5 and vinyls came out.  Out of all musicians that have music on records.., Lana is the best
her haunting voice and velvet vocals can only but wow me. Very few artist can do that to me as I don't like music much anyways
Lana has to forget about unpopular opinions especially like you youngsters, judging her every move. Remember she is only human that will not be recognized by the Oscars music awards just like Led Zappler and other old iconic a of the yesteryear
there is someone here that shall not be named @(leaked) that is disrespectful to Lana and her choices. She is a true magician and can do what she pleases. Music from the 1840s is not like today's but I can tell you Lana is one of the greats like John Elton. Speaking about Elton, Lana should definitely collaborate with him on a small concert. Also Lana has to collaborate with James Fanco on his woman in big mansion movie idea as they're very alike also on bullybored awards Lana was the classiest person in the room.
And where does one get off saying one she didn't know what to say?
Or maybe the people saying that are too stupid to realize what she said, which was quite Genius IMHO.
She is starting to realize just how powerful she is, so she can triple down on the way she already does things for decades into future. (and not do what the run of the mill Adeles do, but do it the
way she does it, as an innovator, as a trailblazer as the unique once in a generation artist she is.
