This and Ultraviolence had that haunting, swaying at 2am, torch song feel so the repition felt appropriate.

Isabella Rossellini falling in love with Frank in Blue Velvet (and Isabella singing Blue Velvet in the movie)
Nobody more known to be dangerous than Frank in Blue Velvet which as said above was possibly all a dream and if not a road trip into hell then redemption

BTW- just by chance at the beach today, I saw the book front and back cover of "Rocket Boys" by Homer Hickman Jr. and I walked past it, then did a double take and walked back. Could this be the book she is reading? (The Movie was titled October Sky (which is all the letters of Rocket Boys jumbled up, and takes place I think if I recall the movie in the late 1950s early 1960s

There's more to it than just the repetitiveness, as that is not something that is new to Lana (so I don't think she's any more lazy than she ever was). If anything, the wordy choruses are more of an anomaly than normal among her released work.

Sometimes she can make it work. AKA, for example. No one would dare call AKA repetitive the way they do UV, but think about it....

I don't know why exactly UV's choruses sound so much worse than these. I'm not worried about HM's choruses being repetitive if she can somehow do so in a way that isn't tiresome like UV was.

Everything in GR is good except the chorus which ruins it...but i always have "motorcycle love divineee" and "heavy metal love of mine" stuck in my head

I cannot fathom how anyone cannot like bangs, and what in the world is wrong when they split down the middle, and are you serious, Britney Spears? Britney Spears is now somehow synonymous with bangs? What? More like Lizzy's lookin' pretty French New Wave these days.

I just really wish David Lynch hears this soon! He would totally love it!!  Twin Peaks is filming soon and ever since i read he likes her I've dreamt he would hook up with her for a project. Would be a dream come true for her to do songs for Twin Peaks and also actually perform them on the show ala Julee Cruise!! The instrumental, her voice and delivery are total noir, dark, mysterious, love it so much!

I am so pleased once again it sounds like she has consciously tried to do something different. I love the fact that she does kind of stay in the same realm but she stretches that pretty much as far as it can go, I mean she is the most streamed female in the US and she is making music like this!! That to me shows she really has integrity

Honeymoon really emulates an air of Billie Holiday to me, the twisted undertone to the song is really interesting. Even in this love song there are really gloomy strings which sound like they belong in a 1950s horror movie score, and each vocal and breath is so considered, a polar opposite to a track like Pretty When You Cry. Her description of late night drives has me really excited, and I love how she has been updating on info through the honeymoon instagram account. and her face is just flawless in the short clip at the beginning.

As far as the lyrics go, the vast majority of songs from the period she seems to be finding inspiration from really contain some lyrics that would be so laughable if sung today, I just think you have to listen without having a critical mind, we know she can write and I'm sure she will prove any doubters wrong in the other 13 tracks. Though personally I don't find any problems in the lyrics of Honeymoon.

Again her voice sounds so beautiful and she's using it in different ways, i'm excited to see whats next

This reminds me, I'm always so torn if I prefer Haynie's production or Parker and Nowels original versions of the songs on BTD.

Still crushed we never got the OTTR demo :'(

One last thing, Lana's singing technique has gotten so much fiercer. Am I the only one getting into how this tramp has seemingly perfected a vibrato, a few runs, and melisma. Work, Lana. Her phrasing and diction have always been crisp, too. She is "SANGING" this damn song, without the extras. Slay.

The last lines of the verses, give me this feel, like I really want to hear her repeat the last line in a lower octave at that point.
The same way she sings "dreamin' away your life" at the end. So that would be "we make the rules, & Mr. Born to Lose".
I suppose that pause or space in the song is okay in it's own way but I feel those parts give it the copy/paste feel when the chorus comes in.
I adore the way Lana comes in on the verses "We both know" and how she sings cruise, plus the background vox kicking in all "Lalala" like
    or whatever she's saying there.

The way she say "dark blue" is literally the way I imagined her in my head.

When she says "but I'm not scared" her vox warbles a bit and she sounds emotional and vulnerable which I love. It's great on that specific line.

    The Bridge is dope.

Scatting and all that jazz is beautiful.

I personally prefer the soundtrack vibe cuz I love ambient tracks and OST, as is. I love slower tempos and a lot of times find faster paced songs give me headaches. I ease my anxiety with Lana's voice on many occasions.
I LOVE reading what other people are reminded of by this (possible references, and similarities to past work)

Hella excited for whatever's next EEEEE   EEE!!!
