I wanted to post this new cover I made for SOTW and figured I'd just make a general thread for all my Lana covers to put new ones as I make them. I'll include some of my previous work in a spoiler below as well.

She’s only 34 but her ears are too low on her head so I mean

It's REALLY bizarre because EVERYONE knows it's a lie, including her friends. For example, Courtney knows she created a persona ... and Lanz didn't deny it when she talked about it:

I mean, come ON, Lanz. Just own it.

i don’t get why lana gets so mad when people say she has a persona? like it's baffling to me. she obviously does have a persona, or at least had for the first three albums she put out. and so many well respected artists had personas as well so it’s not like it’s an insult to her art.. if anything crafting a persona takes a lot of skill and careful storytelling so it’s a compliment.

it’s like she wants to have her cake and eat it too. to be considered a completely genuine artist whose every song is autobiographical AND sing about drug lord boyfriends and taking on the role of a classic femme fatale at the same time. girl you gotta pick one

"For me, the issue of discretion is just not an interesting concept… I’m more interested in, you know, "With Obama as the president, me and everybody I know, I think we felt very safe and protected" and "Baby you're so ghetto", what’s going to happen with our ill-thought out possibilities. Whenever people bring up not making rash statements, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested."

In order to know what the hell was going on, I ended up skimming Ann Powers reviews.

Honest to god, I don't think Ann's review on NFR is THAT bad. I was expecting something scathing.

The Joni Mitchell was no big deal either. Pretty much that Joni's lyrics are complete in their description of what is going on (cooked) and Lana's wasn't too descriptive (uncooked). Not a great thing to say but also nothing that should have anger Lana so much compared to all the horrible things said about her years ago.

Lana should have said nothing and ignored it. By her tweeting that, she brought more attention to Ann's review. Now there's a bunch of journalist attacking Lana to defend Ann. Even going after Lana's plastic surgery and name change.

It was. The only reason Lana got triggered is because of the Joni part in the article. There were other bits in that article that Lana could have pointed out and disagree with that were actually worthy to disagree with, but the only part that made her angry was the Joni comparison which wasn't even negative. I don't mind that she has her opinion of course she will have it, but the way she chose to go on about this article which wasnt even terrible in comparison with far worse articles out there, is she started telling Ann how she is not a fan and shouldn't call herself a fan, next minute lying also about never having personas. Lana knew that her rabid fans would go after Ann and she wanted that. That's why she attacked her publicly. She could have easily contacted Ann in private and have a nice discussion over the article instead of this circus of tweets she blurted out.
Of course she will have her opinion, I'm not saying she can't have. She handled herself very poorly in this case.

I agree, but the fact Lana decided to go after this woman who didn't even give her a baaaaaaaad review when we have men like Alexis Petridis sitting right there is... questionable.

Yeah Lana responding that review was absolutely stupid and unnecessary. I can't believe she thought it would be a good move to """expose""" that author and not the fucking man-children constantly giving misogynistic reviews. A really bad look, and one of the multiple reasons I think I wouldn't stand being her friend as much as I love her as an artisté.
  16. moonsdf liked a post in a topic by Beautiful Loser in NFR Metacritic/Review Thread
Knowing Lana, she probably read (parts of?) the review on twitter and decided to tweet back her thoughts immediately. I think it’d be much better if she emailed Ann Powers instead because of course will twitter stans come within seconds and say “DRAG HA!”, “don’t listen to her babe” etc. I think it was a positive review too, and it’s certainly a good thing if it made others want to play the album after reading it. Way too many stans are coming for this (from what I understood) very respected music critic just because Lana’s response wasn’t positive. I don’t even think some of the stans have actually read the review.

right! she’s never trashed talked the men who have thrown disgusting insults at her (eminem) or unfairly criticized her in a misogynistic manner (alexis the asshole) but goes after women who have genuine criticisms and are actually polite abt it (lorde, ann powers)

i mean i love her but it’s so frustrating when she directs her anger at the wrong places
  18. moonsdf liked a post in a topic by theeternalstars in NFR Metacritic/Review Thread
I am uncomfortable with journalists being hounded off Twitter for literally doing their job and expressing their opinion. Lana tweeted the critic publicly, knowing full well that she would get relentless abuse from stans. I also hate, hate the fact that she said that Powers wasn't a fan for having a different perspective on certain aspects of her art.

For what it's worth, I actually thought Ann's review made valid points on the imagery of "Lana Del Rey" especially for her first albums. Sometimes I turn a blind eye whenever Lana does or says things that are a bit dodgy or naïve politically/socially, but it's hard to ignore if Lana's out here hounding people who dare to point it out.
